Went to our first flea market yesterday and got quite a few treasures and these are one of the treasures I picked up for a dollar. Now the woman I bought them from and myself both thought them to be very large knitting needles. Then when I came home and looked them up this is what I found. What do you think?

The items in the image are likely a pair of tatting shuttles or netting needles. These tools are used for creating knotted lace or nets. They appear to be made of wood, with a smooth, polished finish. The larger, bulbous ends serve as handles, while the long, slender bodies hold the thread or twine used in the crafting process. These tools are often used in traditional crafts like tatting, netting, or macrame. Now I have tatted but used very small needles. Whatever they are I love them, perfect for a dollar!

Oh yes long and wide and pointed at the bottom like knitting needles.

I thought they might be to help turning a narrow tube of fabric. I have never tatted so don't know about that, but my grandmother tatted and I never saw anything like these when I was with her.

Hi, Debbie! I think that they are broomstick lace needles. Tatting shuttles and needles look quite different from what you have. Hopefully you will be able to discover what they were used to create.

Hi again, Debbie! Were you ever able to figure out what the items that you purchased are used to create? They are very interesting and lovely at the same time. Happy collecting!

Debbie, I have no idea what these are but they are fascinating and show the old craftsmanship in their making.

No, I have not been able to identify them yet. So, I just display them with my new and vintage sewing treasures.
