There was such a fun response to the apple giveaway, that I decided to offer a "I love Pumpkins Giveaway". For me, Pumpkins are the item I most associate with Fall, Halloween, and Thanksgiving. Without pumpkins, it just wouldn't feel right. Since Fall officially arrives on September 22 at 2:19 EDT, let's welcome her arrival with a Pumpkin winner!
So, if you wish to toss your name in the pumpkin basket, leave me a message about your own feelings regarding pumpkins and Fall. Have you ever grown them? Do you like pumpkin pie? Let's share here with your thoughts so we all can enjoy welcoming and celebrating one of the icons of Fall! Sign ups will go through September 22, and a winner will be chosen and posted on September 23.
I can't wait to hear from you!

We tried to crow pumpkins last year but they never seem to grow up. We had lots of long, long vines. I think we need to plant in a bigger spot. Looking forward to getting my pumpkins for my fall and Halloween decorating. It will not be long. The ones at our Safeway yesterday are amazing, big beautiful orange for 5.00. Cannot beat that! And I am ready for another Winnie give away, thank you. Happy Weekend.

Winnie, yes, let's talk pumpkins, because they are what fall is all about. I've never grown pumpkins but have had volunteers to come up when I put fall pumpkins long the back fence line in early winter. Harvested a couple of pumpkins the next fall.
This year I'm thinking about buying pie pumpkins to put on my front porch bench then can them. I do like roasted pumpkin. One good thing about pumpkins is you don't have to water them and with the temps still in the 90's in Texas I don't want anything else to water.

Oh where do I begin! I'm Pumpkin Crazy! One thing I remember from childhood is how every house in our neighborhood had huge pumpkins carved into Jack-o'-lanterns on Halloween! My cousin Amy and I would try and find a pumpkin recipe that we hadn't made before! Orange is my favorite color, it's because of my lov e of Pumpkins! Connie Sue

Pumpkins, pumpkins, pumpkins! They definitely say Fall to me. I love pumpkin pie and pumpkin roll, pumpkin spice and anything pumpkin really. We have them out as soon as fall decorating starts. Love my porch all decorated with mums and pumpkins!

Happy sigh Winnie! I'm starting to breath easier because the summer workload is beginning to slow, temps are slowly going down so I can open my windows again AND I see some late summer/ fall wildflowers coming up. My favorite favorite time of year! Bittersweet as birds begin thier migration but also welcoming back the cooler weather birds!
I don't normally enter because I feel I have everything I need but I love me some pumpkins for sire! All fall colors are my favorite and the foods! I love growing pumpkin! So here I am chatting on like crazy. Thank you for your generous giveaway. You have a heart bigger than a pumpkin, lol, Winnie! Put me down please

I love these fun comments from you all!! Debbie, I think your $5 pumpkin is a super find after stubborn seeds that refused to make pumpkins for you! Sara, I am with you that Fall just isn't Fall without pumpkins....and I might add candy corn!! LOL! Pie pumpkins are a good idea because you can can them and roast them and they will serve your needs. Connie, you know I agree with you that you can never have too many pumpkins in the fall whether it comes in the form of decorations or the actual vegetables itself! Denise, your porch looks beautiful with your gorgeous mums and pumpkins! Dianna, I am so happy to hear that you too survived our extra long, hot and humid summer we had down here in the deep South! I am happy to hear that you are actually seeing the early signs of Fall. So far, my only early signs are the Hickory nuts are falling off trees, and the Laurel and Shumard Oaks in my yard are starting to drop mature acorns. I was really lucky that when I was at Rural King on Thursday afternoon, they had a big box of nice big pumpkins for $4.50!

Oh my goodness!! I believe that pumpkins are my love language!! I love pumpkins!! :) We are growing pumpkins this year. The baby ones, aren’t they cute???? We tried to grow a blue (ish) gray variety this year but it didn’t set fruit. Insert sad face. We will get a couple of bigger pumpkins for our front steps and then add in our smaller and baby pumpkins. I love all things pumpkin flavored….except coffee…I don’t drink coffee! :) I have the yummiest pumpkin cake recipe that I clipped from Taste of Home magazine years ago. My family asks for it for many family functions. Thanks, Winnie, for orchestrating this fun thread! :)

Thank you all for your kind words on my porch set up. Always feels like it's missing something. Love to roast pumpkin seeds after we have done "punkins" with the kiddos too! There is so much to love about pumpkins. You are very generous to do these giveaways Winnie!

Denise, it is pretty! I would add dried cornstalks in the corner behind your mums and Pumpkins. Cornstalks add a more Fall background than the Brick. Connie Sue |

My motto has always been, there is no such thing as too many pumpkins in your life!! For beauty, making delicious things to eat, and just plain fun to enjoy once a year come Fall. Now there are many varieties and sizes to explore as well. However for me, you can’t beat a fat round orange pumpkin with a strong stem. I like keeping it simple and old fashioned. Does that mean I Am getting old?? LOL!!!!

Winnie, gotta love our pumpkins but they're so much cuter along with a scarecrow or two. I ordered a 5' scarecrow today that will sit on my front porch bench with a big fat orange pumpkin. Decided to can acorn squash instead of pie pumpkins.

I recall when I was in 1st or 2nd grade at Smith Calley School near Metairie Wisconsin, my sister's best friend, Laurie Brown, dressed up for Halloween in a sheet and wore a real pumpkin with a jack o lantern face carved in it. It rather messed up her hair but it was only for one day.

Winnie, me too! Sara I love Scarecrows inside and outside. These two are made of metal.I planted container corn this year, so I stuck my scarecrow down in the pot because it has dried out already. Our Farmstand doesn't have Pumpkins or cornstalks yet, I'm ready when they do! lily June's is the one with the yellow scarf, I'm waiting on the pumpkins to get started!
Vanessa, I love that costume! That was some of the greatest days of my childhood, always making our own costumes, Trick-or-treating in our neighborhood where our neighbors knew us since we were born and gave us quarters and a ton of candy!g being a ghost was my favorite costume!oh how I wish I had just 1 picture from Halloween as a kid! Oh me too Connie! Those costumes that had the face with the elastic string always made your face sweat. Then we started making our own after that. We just went down our street , then the circle behind ours. Everyone knew everybody AND all the parents were looking out for everyone’s children. Even though that was probably only twenty houses, we would come home with a pile of candy, fruit and popcorn balls. I may have told this story last year, but one year my little sister was too sick to go out, word got around and everyone that came to our house brought my sister treat bags and toys. It was our most memorable year, being that everyone was so kind! Denise and Connie your decorations are so cute, I can’t wait to get home from NC to start decorating. Bentley saved the corn shocks from our summer harvest, which wasn’t much, but enough to make one, LOL.
