Forgot to say, most times you need to let your pickles sit for a while before tasting. Takes a while to actually pickle.

Michele, I did leave them in there for awhile, but they tasted like sweet pickles rather than dill. But the recipe said it was for dill. When we all expected dill and it came out sweet, it just tasted wrong lol!

Oh goodness that happens. I have made a hamburger dill recipe, in the ball canning book, that my husband likes. I don't like pickles, so I am no help. haha

I have used the dill and bread and butter pickle mixes you buy in a packet and like them both. Quite simple and fast!

Oh Heather, I will need to look for those. I like easy!
Today I canned 8 pints and 1 half pint of peach jelly! We will be having tons of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches this year!

It's cooler here with a week of on and off again light rain.
Today I put up 7 pints of sloppy joes and two didn't seal, could be me because as I was filling the jars & putting the lids on MS fatigue dropped on me. I got it done but let's just say it wasn't pretty.
Having one jar for supper and tomorrow's lunch; the other I'll freeze.

8 pints of tomato sauce. The darker sauce came from a batch I had in slow cooker overnight. A 20 pound( not all the tomatoes were in good shape), blessed to have good food on shelf
