Today I am prepping to put up corncob broth tomorrow. Fresh corn on sale for 29 cents an ear so I ordered 6 ears in this morning's grocery delivery. Annie and I sat out on the back deck so I could husk the corn. We are under a severe thunderstorm watch but so far it was perfect weather to sit outside. I haven't made corncob broth in a couple of years so happy to get back to it. It's good in soups, stews, and to warm up vegetables when you need a little extra liquid.

Sara - you always can the most interesting things! I hope all your jars seal tomorrow and that the storms aren't too severe.

I need to try that this year Sara. What all do you put in besides the corncobs?

Lisa, I've learned from trial and error to add fresh bay leaf, garlic & onion powder, and instant chicken bouillon all to taste. Add salt only if needed. No black pepper, it turns bitter in canning process. I like the mild corn taste it has even with what I add. Next year I may try adding an herb, like rosemary or sweet marjoram.

Heather thank you for the wild violet jelly recipe and for taking the time to write it out for me. Very nice handmade envelope and card.

My rhubarb has been very slow growing this year, but I got enough rhubarb to make 2 pints of strawberry rhubarb jam yesterday. Both pints sealed. Hopefully I can get some more rhubarb soon, because this is a favorite jam in our house.
