Posted - Dec 05 2018 : 5:41:55 PM I have tried homemade dishwasher soap before and never was happy with the results. Today I tried a new recipe and loved it. The dishes came out clean and I used vinegar for the rinse. I couldn't have been happier. I can't wait to try the next project - whatever that will be.

Posted - Mar 24 2019 : 07:26:36 AM I use the same recipe, but after about a week, the glasses get cloudy. I tried using lemon essential oil, but it didn’t work. We have well water. Any recipes or ideas out there?

Posted - Dec 14 2018 : 7:38:46 PM Kelly- Thanks for sharing that. I don't use the dishwasher often but once in a while I do. How much citric acid did you use per load?

Posted - Dec 14 2018 : 1:59:34 PM I love being more simplistic. Today things are ever so pricey and seem so cheaply made to me.

Posted - Dec 14 2018 : 11:37:02 AM Kelly - I had to chuckle about you not wanting another dishwasher! We have not had one for about a year now... and I'm hoping to get one after Christmas!!! My children have all said they would be happy with a dishwasher as their only Christmas present this year. I guess they are tired of washing dishes, hahaha

Posted - Dec 14 2018 : 11:00:10 AM That's the recipe I used, I just kept my citric acid in a separate container and added it each load. That's what causes it to clump. My dishwasher went out and don't want another one but that recipe was my go to one.

Posted - Dec 09 2018 : 5:41:37 PM So far I have not had any problems with it. The dishes are coming out clean and shiny. I always rinse my dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. I did not have a glass quart jar to put the dishwasher soap in and it gets somewhat hard. I have to work some lose to put in the dishwasher.

Posted - Dec 09 2018 : 4:08:53 PM Lori, this is good to know because I have never been able to make a good source either. Will have to try and see how it goes. It certainly is cheaper and I already have the washing soda and borax because I make my own laundry detergent.

Posted - Dec 08 2018 : 5:49:39 PM I used 2 parts washing soda, 2 parts borax, one part salt, and one part citric acid ( food grade ). Mix together well and keep in a tightly sealed container. I have mine in used coffee container but it keeps better in a glass jar with a lid.
