Posted - Aug 28 2018 : 07:07:10 AM Hi Farmgirls! I hope I'm posting this question in the correct place, and I hope some of you have the info I'm looking for. I know that if anyone does, Farmgirls do!
What is the best method for washing my reusable/recyclable bags? I have to admit I have been using the same collection of BAGS for my groceries for YEARS and have not washed them. Some are stinky! Any tips/advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance, and ONE LOVE! EmilyRoseBud Sister #5070

Thanks so much! I will be working on this little project this weekend. I think the suggestion of using dish soap is great! I will also hang them to dry in the sun. You're right...nothing gets smells and germs out like good ol' sunshine!
Have a beautiful day!

Posted - Aug 28 2018 : 7:23:56 PM You should wash anything made from recycled plastic containers (a.k.a. polypropylene bags) by hand in warm soapy water and line dry it.Feb 26, 2014
Found this just now when I googled how to clean Polypropylene bags

Posted - Aug 28 2018 : 7:19:44 PM I agree with Marie. Soak them in a pail of water and soap. You may even want to take a small soft scrub brush inside and out side rinse real well and let them air dry. Sunshine kills germs too. Hang them outdoors for a bit in the drying stage.

Posted - Aug 28 2018 : 1:29:13 PM Hi Churunga,
Thank you for the great advice on washing the plastic bags! I'm about to invest in some of the durable reusable ziplocks and I'll wash them this way. Have a great day!

Posted - Aug 28 2018 : 1:28:13 PM Hi Tumbleweed, Thank you for your reply. I have two large ones made of heavy canvas (they are Thirty One Bags) and then a variety of others that are made of a lighter canvas material, and the tag in one of them says this:
I'm open to all advice! Thanks again!

Posted - Aug 28 2018 : 11:18:25 AM I wash my zip lock bags with the dishes. For a large number of bags, I would put them in a pail with dish soap and water, agitate, rinse and hang on a line. This is for plastic bags.
