Found this at the Dump needed it any way to clean the chrome the other will be painted.

Dinah I use Barkeepers Friend for everything from stainless-steel cookware, my grandmother's silver-ware, and my collection of vintage cream and green enamel-ware. The label says for use on chrome - I have not tried it.
