Posted - Dec 12 2006 : 1:43:47 PM in my microwave. Yes while doing too much multi- tasking this weekend I left popcorn in the microwave and it burned and my kitchen still smells of it. I tried using vinegar but it does not work. Any ideas?

Posted - Dec 14 2006 : 09:33:21 AM Ugh - I've burned popcorn recently, too. I have to say, however, that I use the lazy gal's way of getting rid of the smell - clean the microwave, throw the popcorn out to the chickens, open the windows, stoke the fire, and wait !

Posted - Dec 13 2006 : 7:00:28 PM In the store I've seen a small plastic tub for cleaning microwaves that has you add water and I think the "magic ingredients" are baking soda and something else they don't list clearly. Try a small plastic container with water and baking soda, nuke for 30 seconds, then a second 30 seconds and wipe down the interior. A paste of baking soda and white vinegar always works for a really dirty microwave and there is no smell after. And if your house still smells, resort to the pan of water cinnamon, allspice, cloves and simmer. Works every time...just don't burn it! Burnt cinnamon is worse than burnt popcorn, I speak from experience!
