Ok... I have tried washing in dawn dish soap, vinegar and my last resort is to go to the store bought flea shampoos... the flea meds work to keep the dogs from getting worms and such but its not stopping the fleas from jumping on them... and them jumping off into my house!! Im about to pull my hair out... does anyone have any suggestions? These little boogers are biting me now!!

The thing with flea pills is if you dog has flea allergies it will not work because you won't know if your dog is itching because of flea bills or allergies. My border collie suffered from flea allergies. The Only thing that would work was front line and a flea bomb.

Mix 1 cap Of tea tree oil to 12 oz water and spray spray every where it repels the fleas and lice and bugs that try to come in your house it also freshens your house.

The one time my dog got fleas I bathed her once a week with the dawn and vinegar; I would get her soaking wet (she has a lot of fur) and then thourghly saturate her with the dawn and vinegar and let that sit for about five minutes and then rinse. After two weeks the fleas were gone but I continued for two more weeks and they haven't been back since.

Oh and I forgot. Dog itchy hot spots or people itchy bites: wipe with straight ammonia. Shuts the itch down fast!!

We have an old dog that can't tolerate the chemicals and meds so we have several natural strategies. It takes more diligence.
Lots of baths. It doesn't matter what kind of soap just make sure the dog stays in the water submerged for at least ten minutes and be rubbing all over with a soapy washcloth. Oh and before you even put him in the tub wet down inside his ears and face because the little buggers like to hide in the ears but not if they are wet.
Use Original Windex to spray down all your textiles. Rugs, carpet, bedding. I don't spray it on my leather furniture. Do this before letting the freshly bathed dog to run around. Btw this also works for lice and scabies but you have to do it more often for them.
We have two insect repellents by our doors. One for us is store bought bug repellant. We spray down just outside the door and the dog gets spritzed and rubbed down each time before he comes in. I make a citrus peel, garlic and rosemary spray that we alternate with a commercial clove based spray.
Wash sheets and bedding often using ACV in the rinse cycle to kill the pupae and eggs. And as mentioned above distamaceous earth is really effective. Put DE on the grass and borax on the cement.

The Comfortis is a big help and you should be able to buy one pill at a time. To kill fleas in the carpet, sprinkle diatomaceous earth into the carpet and rub it in. let it sit for at least 15 minutes, then vacuum. Then spray with the Zodiac flea spray. I did all these, and no more fleas. The Comfortis is pricey but it makes a big difference. And the dog is more comfortable as well. Fleas are a pain.

Oh and the Comfortis is a once a month pill but we did not give it to them this month. I'd rather not spend the money on it if we aren't having a problem.

We used Dawn dish soap for bathing and at the same time sprayed carpets and furniture with Zodiac flea killer and gave the dogs Comfortis, (they have to eat before taking it as it works better that way for some reason), that I purchased from the vet. It was pricey, except for the bath, but they dropped right off them. I know I would rather go more natural but we were getting bit and over run with the 3 dogs having them. I did spray full strength vinegar on my wood floors and that helped in those rooms. So far we are flea free as far as I can tell. The Zodiac lasts for 7 months unless you steam clean which we do. I figure we will just re apply if we get them back again. Here, it is 11.99 for a bottle and we only used two for the whole house. We did every room and we have carpeting all through the upstairs. We did have some left over that we sprayed on the mattress of my dad's bed. We were gone for the weekend so my son did that. He has his dog sleep with him and he was getting bit. Any how, you only have to leave it for one hour so we moved the dogs from room to room as we did it so they would not come into contact while it was wet. Hope this is of some help to you.
