Hey everyone! I need all the ideas I can get...we lost our house to a fire, but were able to salvage some stuff. I have some sentimental stuffed animals that belong to my kids and a few dresses that I kept. Does anyone have a way to get the smell out? I find if I wash and wash and wash and air dry it helps the smell a little. But on the white stuffed sheep, there are stains too. Any ideas on the odor and/or the stains?

Oh, Sherry! How funny - teen boys...yes, sometimes everything about them stink! I will try the zeolite and the filter charcoal...I haven't tried those things yet. Thanks so much for the help!

fish tank filter charcoal, use a big plastic tub with a tight fitting lid, set animals inside with a bowl of the charcoal, close and leave for 3-4 days and check, it may take awhile, but it does work and its non-toxic, will work for clothes and blankets also, just remember to keep refolding so it can work all over...cheap and easy...

zeolite is a rock product. you store the item in a tight container with the zeolite. it absorbs the odor. we used this when the boys were teens. their shoes stunk. stuff the zeolite bags in shoes 24 hours no stink. hopw this helps.

Thanks, will definitely try those things...although I did use tubs of OxyClean and that didn't really help a lot....at least it was worth a try!

Nature's Sunshine has an awesome enzyme spray that will certainly help with the odor and should get the stains out too, it is called Nature's Fresh Enzyme Spray. OxyClean might get it out too.

You can try putting the stuffed animals in a brown paper sack, then add some baking soda and close the bag. Shake well and leave in bag for a few hours, then remove from bag and shake out the excess.
