We have 3 kids under 3. For the past 2 years I have been struggling with insanely dry skin on only one of my hands. I didn't even have fingerprints on the one hand because of how awful it got! I tried everything I knew herbally and when that didn't help I went to the dermatologist. He said it was extremely dry skin and it could possibly be from baby wipes or a cleaner I come into contact with often. I had already switched to 100% all natural cleaners, laundry soap, soap and lotion so that wasn't it. The only thing I was left with was baby wipes. I was given cases of wipes from family members. A name brand Shea Butter and Aloe "sensitive skin" formula.
Last year my husband worked for a packaging company and found out they need their machines rebuilt for baby wipes because the solution eats through that surgical, extremely high grade stainless steel...
So I quit using all baby wipes and just used paper toweling with water as I needed them. With the heavy duty lotion the dermatologist gave me and not using wipes my hands are healing up! I am sticking with all natural products but now to the question:
For reusable wipes:
What kind of material do you make them out of?
Do you wet pail or dry pail them?
Do you put them with your cloth diapers?
Do you spray off the #2 before pailing them or just throw them in?
Do you keep them dry and wet before using or do you put them in a pail of water or water/soap solution to use as needed?
For using paper toweling or those dry square wipes:
Where do you get dry square wipes like they use in hospitals?
Do you put some kind of soap solution in with them?
Do the paper towels that you keep wet get too soggy to use properly?
Thanks for any tips/advice in advance! If the baby wipe solution eats through the special steel and affected my hands that bad, why on earth am I wiping my baby's bottom with it?!

I was thinking with your hands being so dry, maybe add some oil to the water-what ever kind you think would be best for your skin-olive, baby, tea tree, etc etc.

When I had twins in cloth diapers I used some old flannel sheets. I cut them up in squares. I used a plastic baby wipes container that I had to store them in. I did store them with some water. I did use a solution with the water but it has been a long while and can't remember what it was. I did throw them in the diaper pail and wash them when I washed diapers.

I use flannel for my wipes.
I keep them in a wipe warmer with water. (no solution, just plain water-after all do you use soap on your bottom every time you wipe?)
I "dry pail" but wash like every day. But, I dry pailed when we were only able to wash once a week too (had to go to the laundry mat).
