Posted - Jun 11 2012 : 2:12:38 PM I have a small piece of marble about 16x12x4. It's fairly old, and I thought I would like to clean it, maybe it could buff up some. Then I could use it to set hot things on, or as a cutting board ect. I used it years ago to pour hot candy on and really liked it. Does anyone know how I could polish it up a bit, or any other ways I could use it? Hubby thinks I should get rid of it. Thanks |

Posted - Jul 08 2012 : 6:29:07 PM I have a cultured marble sink in the bathroom. I used just plain baking soda (NO NO NO VINEGAR!!)
We bought an older house when I was in High School and it had marble window sills. Mom just washed them with soap and water and "Pledged" them. (Maybe not for pulling taffy candy, though).

Posted - Jun 14 2012 : 06:58:58 AM Call your local granite counter top shelf dealer and see what they recommend. I know that granite counter tops need special cleaners and polishers to keep it nice.
Hope this helps Lorie

Posted - Jun 13 2012 : 1:13:33 PM Sorry Julie, but DO NOT use marble as a stepping stone in your garden! They are super slippery when they get wet. I almost killed myself numerouse times slipping on a piece of marble we had right off our patio. Don't know why, but all of a sudden it dawned on me I should move it before I really did get hurt, DUH!
Oh, I should also say you could paint it and make it a welcome sign, just don't put it down where anyone can walk on it.

Posted - Jun 13 2012 : 10:05:03 AM I like all your ideas. If all else, you could use as a stepping stone in the garden.
