I wasn't sure where to post this question, but I thought it might fit here.

For the very first time, I had an energy saver bulb burn out (you know, those twirly kinds that take a fraction of the energy for powerful wattage). It's been in use for almost 8 1/2 years now (we put it in when we moved into this house), so I can't complain, but I don't know how to dispose of it. I know you aren't supposed to toss them with regular garbage because they have trace mercury inside them, but I have no clue what you ARE supposed to safely do.

Does anyone know? Thanks.

Check with your local hardware store to see if they collect them for recycling. IKEA also takes them.
