So after much hemming and hawing, I finally decided to take the plunge and try blogging.

Latest post is about sink scrubbing (whee!)

Thanks!
Bev

I made a nice paste of baking soda and Dawn dishwashing liquid. It does a great job. Used it on the bottom of my pans too. That was wonderful.

Thanks, Bev. I'll keep the paste recipe and try it on an out of the way place first. I'm not afraid to use bleach water if I need to. Sorry you've got the 'tax time blues'. My brother used to do taxes, and he might as well have been living on another planet until March 15.

Janice - sorry it took me so long to respond! January is the pits for me - tax time! Anyway, I've used this paste successfully on all types of sinks. If your porcelain/iron one is yellowed, try soaking it full of *gasp* bleach water. I know people don't like to use bleach, but there are times... If it has hard water crusties - use a pumice stone.

The paste works great on appliances - just don't use on stainless steel. You don't want to scratch the surface!

Bev - I have an old cast iron/porcelain coated sink. Do you think this will work for me? I need any/all advice I can find for cleaning old appliances, too. I have three GE monitor top refrigerators from the 1930's. Wonder if your recipe would work on them? Thanks for your recipe. I'll be saving it and enjoying your blog, too.

No, I don't think it's the same at all.

But, you can purchase it on-line. I even found this Canadian website:

http://well.ca/brand/dr-bronners-magic-soap.html

So check on-line in your area. Happy hunting!

I really like your blog! I wish I could find Dr Bronner's Castille soap - I don't think it's available in Canada & I have yet to find it in my few places in the States. Sometime I will :). Would it be the same as Murphy's Pure Vegetable Oil Soap, do you think? I'm thinking not...but then what do I know? I'll be sure to check out your blog often :). Thanks for sharing.
