So Doug left our huge Costco sized bottle of lemon juice out on the counter and I didn't want to use it on food anymore.

Then an idea struck me as I was hanging out my latest load of wash. Some of Nora's shirts had some stains on them so so I dumped the bottle of lemon (about a quart) into a bucket with a little water. I just dunked the whole shirt and then wrung it out. I spread it on the grass and am going to let it bleach out the stains. So now I have the lemon bucket on the back porch and will put a lid on it after I am done with laundry to save for another day.

Anyone else use lemon to bleach stains away in the sun?

Would you mind sharing your dishwasher recipe? I love my Duggar family based laundry soap (I don't use her exact recipe)and have been looking for a dishwasher version.

I use lemon juice in my dishwasher with my homemade dishwasher soap. Something about the citric acid helps cut down on the film.

No, but I am going to try that. My husband has some stains on his white undershirts that I am going to use the lemon juice mix on. Very good idea.

I have used lemon juice in my sink along with baking soda to whiten it and it worked really well. I mixed the lemon juice and baking soda into a paste and left it on the sink until it dried. When I rinced it off the sink was whiter. I got that out of book of homemade recipes using baking soda.

Also I have poured lemon juice down my sink to refresh it. Better to use lemon peels though.
