For you ladies in the Moscow, Idaho - Pullman, Washington area, has anyone found/seen Zote soap anywhere?

I would get it on-line, but need it for a bridal shower gift.

(I'm making a "make-your-own" laundry soap kit!)

Our Winco did have either.(If you shop there and know a cashier named Ernie, say hello to him, He's my dad.LOL) I bought mine at Stater Bros(and I know that Moscow does have one). Lehmans is a good source for washing aids.
Bummer about your Wal Mart leaving town. I thought my bil worked there, but I guess it moved to Pullman?
I Hope you find what you are looking for.

Happy it is, indeed, for me that my heart is capable of feeling the same simple and innocent pleasure as the peasant whose table is covered with food of his own rearing, and who not only enjoys his meal, but remembers with delight the happy days and sunny mornings when he planted it, the soft evenings when he watered it, and the pleasure he experienced in watching it’s daily growth.

I found it at our Great Scot Grocery store, in the Mexican food aisle, not in the detergent aisle. Also, some people have found it at dollar stores.

Thanks ladies. I'll break down and order some online. I just wanted to add a bar to a shower gift this week. I made up a basket for a new bride with washing soda, borax, bars of laundry soap, an antique washboard and grater from a yard sale, measuring cups, white vinegar, a whisk, recipes for cleaners and essential oils. This bride is moving to the far north of Alberta after the wedding, and she really appreciated the basket. Seems she'd been looking for a washboard! :)

I must say it doesn't bother me and I am allergic to most candles and such. I have never sniffed or even seen the fels naptha to know the difference. But, it's still pretty strong I think. But, it doesn't bother me. I actually don't grate it when it is soft though cause it is harder to grate then. I take it out of the wrapper and let it "cure" (dry/harden) for some months before grating. I think it's easier that way. Also I do like the pinkness! hahaha It is pretty! I wlll also say I don't seem to be allergic to it at all. But, I am highly allergic to the dr bonners, it burns my skin and makes all the skin come off my body and leaves me bloody and VERY itchy! Even when watered down. :(

We have a plethora of Zote here in TX, but I have also used Ivory soap and goat's milk soap as well. The scent of Zote is kinda yucky (citronella), but it does NOT leave the scent in your clothes. Anyway, I'm the experimenting type, so.....

lol

LOL I guess I still need to check it out and see if it makes me wheeze or not. I'm really happy with the Kirk's Castile but I like the pink color. Silly I know, but hey, if it makes me smile doing laundry it is worth finding out if i can tolerate it. : )

The smell of Fels Naptha is why I'm looking for more pink Zote. I like zote much better. And it is a softer bar, much easier to grate or grind up.

I was afraid it would be Heather. I just can't cope with grating the Fels Naptha. Makes my chest hurt.

We have the white zote here, but I have such a large stock of the pink, I haven't sniffed it yet. I will go and sniff it next time I'm at the store. I will say though the pink is pretty strong!

The pink Zote has citronella in it. It's not as strong as a citronella candle - but smells somewhat like grapefruit. I haven't seen the white Zote, so can't speak for that.

Tammy- I really like it. It cleans well and has a very mild pleasant clean smell.
Can anyone tell me what Zote smells like? Is it as strong smelling as Fels Naptha?

I use Kirk's Castile in the bathroom along with Dr Bronner's Liquid. I never thought of using Kirk's in my laundry soap recipe ... Thanks for sharing I will try that next time.

I use Kirk's Castile. I buy it at the grocery. Fels Naptha makes me wheeze. :(
I've had a hard time finding Zote too. Next time I go to the big city I'll go to a mexican grocery. I've been told I'll find it there.

I have never found it here in my part of Ohio either. I use Fels Napha.

Nope on Winco... Wal-Mart left town! :(

I believe Winco has it periodically and sometimes Wal-Mart carries it.
