I've used the baking soda and peroxide mixed but DH doesn't like it and its hard for the kids to use (when I've done it it doesn't make a paste but a powder that you have to dip the toothbrush into...when a five-year-old is using it just asks for a mess!). So we are using TOMS right now...would love to make my own again but need something easier for her to use. I may try the swishing with peroxide though, do you dilute it at all?

Yes I do. I always rinse with water with any toothpaste.

Hi Lea,

thanks for sharing. Used the peroxide with the boys last night (one with super sensitive gums) and we all found the feeling to be...interested. But it doesn't matter if we like it or not, we are going to keep doing it.

blessings,

Pilar

My dad who was a smoker taught me that baking soda and peroxide trick. Years later visiting the dentist for my first teeth cleaning I was told that waiting that long for a cleaning I was sure to have problems and they start telling me denture stories. Then they look in my mouth and see no problems! I told them my ritual and they told me that was why I was ok!

I have thin gums and sensitive teeth, so I brush with just baking soda twice a day and swish peroxide every other day, that keeps down the plaque and germs and whitens without making my gums bleed.

I take 1 Tablespoon of baking soda and slowly add the peroxide until a paste forms.

I love using baking soda and the peroxide makes sense too! I put in a few drops of peppermint essential oil because I love how it tastes and makes my breath smell!

I like using baking soda and some peroxide... baking soda cleans great, and the peroxide keeps down the germs to maintain healthy gums. My friends dentist [her cousin] gave her this recipe.
