Posted - Jan 15 2011 : 04:21:16 AM Hi Girls, Anyone have an organic suggestion to battle the horrible static electricity from my clothes coming out of the dryer? This has been a very bad winter and I don't want to use dryer sheets because of the chemicals. Is there anything else I can do to combat it? Thanks!

Posted - Jan 30 2011 : 1:19:40 PM Your clothes might be getting static-y because you are over-drying them. I would try drying them on a lower setting and/or taking them out while still a teensie tiny bit damp, especially if they are clothes you are going to hang up instead of fold.

Posted - Jan 24 2011 : 9:02:57 PM I have been trying to figure out how to use vinegar as a rinse in the washer? The one time I tried it my clothes smelled like vinegar until 2 to 3 washings later! When do I put in the vinegar? Thanks!

Posted - Jan 18 2011 : 06:42:41 AM I made my own dryer balls by felting wool roving and they not only help with wrinkles and static but my clothes are drying faster.

Posted - Jan 16 2011 : 5:00:53 PM I use vinegar as a rinse in the washing machine and dryer balls in the dryer. They help quite a bit with the wrinkles and static. There is still some static in the winter, but it isn't very bad.
Good luck finding what works best for you. Dawn in IL |

I had to find an alternative to dryer sheets years ago when I developed a skin allergy to fabric softeners. I use a combination of Nellie's Dryer Balls and Static Eliminator sleeves. Both of these products are available at www.gaiam.com and can be found by doing a search on the word laundry.
My dryer balls are the older version that don't have a place for the scent bars. But the nubby surface helps fluff the clothes up leaving them feeling softer than with the static sleeves alone.
