Im thinking of getting a steam mop for my laminate and linoleum floors. Is there one brand that you would recommend or not recommend.

hi there chelley, wow first post. so glad you joined us. we have so much fun here. i found MJF through my daughter in law. been here about a year. so many fine farmgirls. i know i love my steam machines. being chemically sensitive they are the answer for me. i have a eureka one shot hand held. i have a haan floor light weight one, then i have the eureka floor tank type. i love them all. i do find you must not linger in one spot. especially on laminate wood floors. and not tooo wet. on tile which is what i have mostly, it will get hot enough to crack a tile if left there. i wash my cleaning heads alone. with no other rags etc. i have a friend who has the shark and i love hers too. shark has a big burst of steam. the haan is more a hot head. lol happy days sherrye

I've been wondering about a steam cleaner myself. I have ceramic tile floors that look a bit grungy. Thanks for the info on the Shark.

I'm going to have to get one! living on a muddy/dusty farm with pets my floors are a constant effort to keep clean the way I like them, and truthfully , my back and knees would thank me for not getting down on the floor to scrub!

A quick update from me. I just bought the shark vacuum/steam cleaner and boy am I impressed!
It did a superb job on the Pergo, hardwood, and ceramic floors. The vacuum worked beautifully. It converts over to steam cleaner with the flick of a switch & putting the mop head on the bottom of the vac. Super easy to use, did a thorough job on the floors, dried instantly and the floors are no longer squishy! Best part is the mopheads are machine wash and 4 come with the vacuum.
The floors look great and I feel happy having steam cleaned them without chemicals!

I have the shark Love, Love it.
I washed the cloths that go on it the other day in with some other rags and cleaning things and they came out like new.
I can not say enough about how well it works.
I have the Shark navigator vac too ( mom brought me)
I am going to order the kit for the part where you clean under beds etc.
I want to steam cleaner for the bath room too ; as I have short arms and it is a problem when I have to clean on the out side of the toilet at the sides. hugs sheila

My daughter gave me a Shark and I love it for my vinyl kitchen floor. Her husband does her floor on his hands and knees and said youre just spreading dirt around with that mop and he didn't like it. Thanks, Joe! |

I too have a Shark and love it! Mine is the older model, but it's still great. I use it on all my floor surfaces, hardwood, tile and vinyl. Got mine at Costco a couple of years ago. Mine came with five cleaning pads. Just throw them in the washer and dryer.

I too have a Shark and love it. I still do the "down on hands & knees" but not as often as I used to before the Shark. It is great for a quick clean too before company comes, especially during canning season when I'm too busy.
You can get it pretty reasonable if you watch for sales. I saved up my Kohl's cash and got it cheap.

Thanks Erin! I want to get one this weekend. The cleaner I use on my Pergo floor leaves it feeling squishy. I also have oak floors, so it is good to know it can work on that as well.

Hey gals I have a steam mop and absolutely love it! It's a Shark. My whole downstairs is sealed wood. Just don't leave it in one place too long and you'll be fine. It works well on my tile and vinyl flooring too. It leaves my floors shiny and no dullness left behind. I hope you enjoy it as well as I do!
