Hi girls, got a problem that could use my Farmgirl Sister help. I have a favorite white cotton blouse, machine washable with lace trim. It is yellowing, not just under the arms but across the front and back! I even tried bleach, which I normally NEVER use, but it looks even more yellow! Help! Any suggestions or thoughts as to why this is happening? I use vinegar in my fabric softener cup in the machine. None of my other whites are doing this. It is my favorite, feminine summer blouse.

I had a problem with my water a while back. When I called the company that makes era laundry soap about everything lookin yellow and orangey they said to have my water tested. Turned out my water softener had quit workin! After they fixed it I soaked the stuff in vinegar water over night and rewashed it. The color washed out of my stuff! The vinegar water was 1 part vinegar, 2 parts water.

Am not sure what's causing it to yellow, unless it's picking up the color from some other fabrics. Have you tried to hand wash it using Boraxo hand soap with Zote (has optical brighteners) & then line dry it in the sun? I just used that to get some dye out of my husband's shirts and it worked wonderfully. Hope it works for you!

Is the label still on the blouse? Perhaps you can contact the mfg. and get some advice. Or maybe you should just dye it yellow and quit fighting it!

Good luck on getting it to the color you want.
