Posted - Jun 26 2010 : 7:16:40 PM I'm looking for a good recipe for detergent meant for a dish washer. Right now we use 7th generation, which when our scratch and dent store has it we stock up on but they havent for a while and I do not want to pay full price and figured now would be a good time to try to make my own and see if I like it.

Posted - Jul 02 2010 : 7:50:45 PM I'm going to give that a try ,too. I have been making my own laundry detergent, but this is the first time I've seen a recipe for dishwasher detergent. Thanks! I love not having to use the stuff from the grocery store. |

Posted - Jun 29 2010 : 1:36:20 PM I add the EO's for disinfection purposes as well as aromatherapeutic purposes :0D I am not really keen on EO's yet other than the fact that I love using them, lol.

Posted - Jun 29 2010 : 06:30:09 AM Thank you, I will pick up the Borax today and give it a shot. Are the EO's needed or just for scent/extra disinfecting?

Posted - Jun 28 2010 : 7:21:46 PM I use borax and baking soda in a big shaker as dish soap for the sink too. I can just sprinkle it on the dishes and sceub away.
Oh Mr Darcy!

Posted - Jun 28 2010 : 11:24:59 AM Jenn, just a couple of days ago, I tried this MJF recipe and I just love it!
1 c. Borax (20 Mule Team) 1/2 c. baking soda
Mix well.
I use about a tablespoon or two per load, depending on how dirty the dishes are. I love it! So easy, and no funky stuff in it. I also add about 3-5 drops tea tree oil and about 5 drops of my choice of essential oil (usually citrus) to the bottom of the dishwasher before turning it on. :0)
Cheers!
