Posted - Apr 18 2010 : 12:37:26 PM I haven't made any in awhile. So I decided today I would make some. I have the lye outside on the back porch cooling. The oils are in the pot waiting. I am going to make oatmeal and honey today. I am just going to add that to the almost finished soap and pour into a box mold. I am too impatient to French mill today. I want to have enough for the farmer's amrket in May.
What have ya'll been making?
Kris

Posted - May 12 2010 : 08:48:07 AM I need to make more. I need more for our personal use. I've been pressed by friends and family who have been given soap by me over the last 4 years to sell my soap but just haven't plunged that way yet. I was down at the farmers market and no one was selling soap down there the last couple of years. I could do it but I'm leary due to laws. I would want to purchase insurance but am afraid of not making enough to pay back the investment into insurance and ingredients.

Posted - May 12 2010 : 07:16:39 AM Dad is still critically ill, so I haven't made much soap lately, but I did make a batch of goat's milk soap on Monday to take my mind off things. I put ground oatmeal in it, and scented it with Oatmeal, Milk & Honey fragrance oil. Turned out beautifully, and smells scrumptious!
I sold 11 bars at my library for a Mother's Day fundraiser for them (donated 25% of sales).

Posted - May 11 2010 : 4:55:14 PM I just got in an order of essential oils and a few other oils. I am hoping to get some lye ordered soon along with some pots for lip balm that I'll be making as well. I was hoping to give it a try before now, but things have been crazy around here with us finishing up school and my husband's loaded schedule lately. If my first runs go well, then lots of people will be getting soaps for Christmas.

Posted - Apr 22 2010 : 3:03:03 PM I haven't been able to make as much lately as I want to, as my dad is very ill and in the hospital. But I did manage to get one batch made this week, Frutada Fiesta fragrance. It's a blend of coconut, pineapple and other tropical fruits. Very fresh!
Other scents I made recently are Lavender Patchouli, and Vanilla which turned very dark brown but smells great.
Yes, I sold lots of soap at the salon before Easter--people were buying it for gift baskets they were making!

Posted - Apr 18 2010 : 12:59:46 PM I have made oodles and oodles of soap since January and just finished wrapping some Clementine earlier this morning.
I had a very big order for April 1st and am proud to say that By the Bay soap will be sold this summer in a quaint little shop on Mackinac Island. (This is the place where the movie Somewhere in Time was filmed) I am very excited about that!
I have curing right now, Grapefruit, Cucumber Melon and some Red Clover tea---
