Posted - Feb 19 2010 : 07:30:16 AM I got to wash clothes yesterday and just hung them out this morning. Our washer is on the back porch. We had to get about 30' of black pipe so we could have the washer at all. So the drain is going way out in the back and it freezes. So on nice days I have to wait til afternoon to be able to wash clothes. It's a good thing I have so many under things to last a few weeks.
But I am so happy to be able to hang clothes today! Anyone else hangin' out today?

Posted - Mar 01 2010 : 08:09:59 AM Judy, I sometimes have help. too. I just have to let it go then.
Rea, that's the kind I have 3 lines of the heavy duty green wire. But mine is in the backyard and we get so much muddy clay the post are going in. So we have to keep tightening them up. It looks bad but no one will ever see it but me.
Melanie, that's a great idea. I guess that would help with the dryness of the air in winter. And being upstairs would be just like a natural dryer with the heat rising.
It's so cold here I have to use my little wooden dryer for undie things and I just hang the shirts and pants on hangers in the bathroom. Until it warms up. And I do hope that's pretty soon.

Posted - Mar 01 2010 : 06:36:58 AM I have an in-door clothes line......the winters here can be pretty harsh and I can't even wade through the snow to get to the outdoor one, so an indoor one is so handy. the line goes the entire length of my upstairs hallway. It's great! I don't get cold/frozen clothes or legs and the added bonus is the moisture that goes into the air to help with the dryness in our house in the winter!

Posted - Mar 01 2010 : 06:33:11 AM I am planning to build a clothes line this spring. I have only ever had the rope between the trees kind. My mother always had heavy wire that had eye hooks on the ends for tightening when it began to sag. I am hoping to go that route.

Posted - Feb 27 2010 : 1:51:48 PM Yup Kristin, I have my little OCD way of hanging stuff(together) too. If I have help hanging things, I'll go around when they are dry and remove them in (my) order. I'm sure I look like a chicken with it's head cut off, scurrying around....BUT ...hey ...we're SpunkyOldBroads! Right? Right! Gotta do what we gotta do!

Posted - Feb 27 2010 : 10:42:38 AM My mama always taught me to hang like colors, like clothing and one persons all together! Makes folding and putting the clothes away easier!! So on my own, I still follow those rules ;) Good to hear others feel the same -

Posted - Feb 21 2010 : 06:37:44 AM There's just something about hanging out clothes. I love to see them blowing in the breeze. And the smell is fantastic! Just so homey.
Sometimes I can get a little OCD about how I hang things. Like shirts. I hang all red, then blue then black... All colors together. I know. Then the towels have to be all together, too. And in sizes. Like biggest at the end and smaller in the middle. And jeans I hang right side up. All undies together and socks, too. No helter-skelter here. Is anyone else at all like this or am I the only one? I hope there are others. I just like the way it looks.

Posted - Feb 20 2010 : 5:40:55 PM I finally got to hang out today. We haven't had snow but we have had a record amount of rain. It got into the 50's today and was partly sunny. I hung out everything I love doing that. Glad spring is almost here. We have about 4 more weeks until we are for sure into spring.

Posted - Feb 20 2010 : 07:05:52 AM Cindy, I only have 3 jeans and 1 is my chores jeans so they are filthy and I only wash them about every few weeks. Why bother when I am just going to go out in clean jeans and get them all muddy in 10 seconds. So I decided to wash ALL 3 pairs and I got a little scared I might have to throw them in the dryer. I don't like to do that. I will not wash all 3 again at the same time.
It's another great hanging out day here. Beautiful bright blue skies. I just wish it was warmer.

Gena, it won't be too much longer. Just "hang" in there! Ha ha!

Should I try it today? Its sunny, lots of snow on the ground, 15 degrees....I think we might get to 25 today.
I'm happy you are out hanging clothes!!
