Hi everyone, I am new to the forum though I've been reading for a while. I vaguely recall seeing a post about how to wash wool blankets without having to dry clean them. Would someone be willing to share this information again? I have a blanket that desperately needs to be washed in preparation for moving next week! Thanks!

Breat advice, Bobbin...I would use cold and great advice on hanging them. I have always washed mine,too.

I have washed wool blankets in the washing machine using Ivory soap and cool water. Then hang them over the clothes line ... don't pin them but rather throw them over one or two lines. Let a gentle breeze do the rest. The blanket turns out so soft and sweet~smelling after hanging to dry.

I would just wash your wool blanket, and NOT put it in the dryer. Hang it over your shower rod and in the morning it should be dry. |

Sometimes wool blankets can produce some lint while washing.
I suggest using fabric softener in the final rinse.
This reduces friction and results in less lint.
Enjoy the warmth of your wool blanket.
Did you know that wool blankets are naturally flame retardant?
They are the safest bedding for both adults and children.

well I just go ahead and throw them in the washer and dryer. they do shrink some because they are wool and will felt but you never have to worry again about dry cleaning, once you wash and dry them you can always do it then. and they are warmer cause the fibers are closer together then. JMHO
