Posted - Jan 25 2010 : 7:58:23 PM Hey everyone, we do line drying only. My son really misses super soft towels and soft jeans. Is there a way that I can keep the clothes soft and still use the line? Everything comes out a bit like cardboard...

Posted - Feb 20 2010 : 4:16:14 PM I smiled when I read the name of this thread. I remember my mom hanging out closthes until they frozen, then thawing them by the oil stove.

Posted - Feb 16 2010 : 10:06:52 AM Hi~ I am all for extra exfoliation and ultra absorbent for some things but I'd like to try the vinegar for towels and my daughters clothes......how much do you put in the downy ball? Thank you so much, newbie: Stephanie

Posted - Feb 04 2010 : 03:38:57 AM So jealous here.
I miss being able to line dry.
We live on a dirt road, so even on those benificial breezy days it has the potential to make everything dirty again.

Posted - Feb 02 2010 : 8:52:49 PM I usually give everything a hard snap or two when I hang them up and when I take them down. It helps. I have noticed the clothes come out best on slightly breezy/windy days though. They move around more on the line so they stay softer. Otherwise, I have noticed that with clothes at least, once you have them on a few minutes they start softening up. Towels... not so much! Think of it as extra exfoliation! ;) |

Posted - Jan 26 2010 : 08:14:48 AM I do the dryer thing. I take things off the line toss them in the dryer for 10 minutes and they are lots better. I have also learned that if you just give them a quick touch up with a steam iron they soften up.

Posted - Jan 25 2010 : 8:51:59 PM Instead of using Downy or whatever you can use the same amount of regular white vinegar. It helps naturally soften the clothes. You can also give them a quick snap as you are taking them off the line or pop them in the dryer on a heatless fluff cycle for a couple minutes.

Posted - Jan 25 2010 : 8:01:52 PM You can add liquid fabric softener in one of those downy balls. I dont know if you use natural laundry soap, but the downy balls work great for those stiff clothes. hugs Jessie
