girls, where can i get a good recipe for laundry soap? i make all kinds of bars. i agree i have the same problem. residue build up on clothes.thanks sherrye |

I will testify that Alee's laundry bar soap is great! I love it. I have even used it to pretreat stains just by rubbing the bar on the spot. Works really well!
For tomorrow and its needs I do not pray, but keep me, guide me, love me, Lord just for today.

Kristin- the laundry soap probably looks thin to you because you are used to the commercial versions that have artifical thickening agents and fillers to give it that gel like consistency. Also be careful with regular homemade soap. If it is the stuff that you would use on your body it can leave residue behind because the body soap recipes are calculated to not be drying to the skin. One way I read that explained it very well is that your soap molecues have basically two sides to them, one side the bonds with the water and one side tht does the cleaning. Well on the body soap recipes most people leave a percentage of unsaponified healthy oils to buffer that cleaning side. An unbuffered cleaning side would not only strip away the dirty surface oil but also strip away the oils that need to stay in your skin. Well anyway your clothes don't need that buffer and then when you wear them and add the normal body soil you can get a residue. I had this happen when I first started making the laundry soap and I was using the soap trimmings from my soap making for the laundry soap. Now I make a special laundry soap bar that is an all organic replacement for Zote of Fels and no more residue.

Terri, I made laundry soap yesterday, too. I think it needs to be thicker, though. I made the liquid with my homemade soap instead of the Fells soap. Did you make Mary Jane's ( not the Queen Bee) recipe? Did you use any EO in yours?
I am going to make hand and dish soap when the goat milk thaws out. I need pump bottles.
