I know a lot of us make our own cleaners but I thought I would share this anyhow. Last weekend our town had the annual Home and Garden show here. My mom bought 3 bottles of organic orange cleaner and gave one to me. I have to tell you, this stuff is wonderful!!!! It cleans windows and mirrors like nothing and smells like heaven. Here is the website if anyone is interested www.thatorangestuff.com It's a little pricey but it's super concentrated and I cleaned my whole house and used maybe 2 tsp. of it. It also says you can clean your oven with it, I'm excited about that since Easy-Off is like instant suffocation. I'll let you guys know how it works when I try it this week. I found "Organic Orange TKO" made from only orange peels in the "big city" health food store this past week - it's, obviously, an orange cleaner, but it's 100% organic - so I'm trying it. Does anyone know about the disinfecting qualities of these cleaners? I wonder if I still need to disinfect after cleaning with it in those especially yucky cases that sometimes plague a farmhouse...

Considering the dilutions they instruct you to use and all of the applications (fly spray for livestock! I'd love to know if anyone has tried it for this) it seems like a real bargain. My Husband also complains about vinegar but loves the whole bleaching thing (blech! swollen thyroid anyone?) so I think I might order the small bottle and see how I like it. Especially if it will clean my oven!

Hey I just found it in the organic section of my supermarket. This stuff is called" Citra-solv". I remember when it first came out about 20 years ago when I was running a restaurant, we used it. You use only 1oz. for a spray btl. or 1oz. per 1/2 gallon. Smells great, like oranges and desolves gum, grease, tar and glue. Can't wait to use it! |

I've heard great things about orange-type cleaners, and I've never tried one before - now that I know that they really DO work, I'll pick one up...Thanks for the tip!

DH is the one that can't handle the vinegar in our house and ALWAYS complains about it. I was real happy at how well it worked. Hope you like it too!! |

Thanks for the info, I didn't think the price was too bad.
some of the "Seventh Generation" is pretty pricey and not concentrated.
I may order some, especially for windows.
(sometimes can't handle the vinegar route)
