After reading through a few posts, I realized a lot of us have a magazine collection. I subscribe to one, and then my MIL loves to pick up any of five different home decor magazines to browse through, then gives them to me later - I probably get about fifty of them a year from her!

So what do I do with all these magazines, with great pictures and awesome ideas and recipes?

I cut them up - WHILE going through them the first or sometimes second time.

The recipes slide into my "recipe binder" - I found a photo album and use it as my recipe book. It's easy to keep them all sorted and tabbed - breakfast, recipes, appetizers, drinks, desserts, etc - and the clear sleeves mean I can wipe up any accidental splashes while cooking.

From there I have other binders, which have pockets or clear sleeves. One book is just garden and yard ideas. Another holds pictures and ideas for my "dream home". And yet another holds projects and images I found appealing, for whatever reason (with the reason sometimes explained in a note next to it).

It's a great January nothing-else-to-do task. And best of all: I can always find what I am looking for within minutes, rather than trying to recall what issue of what magazine that great bookcase idea was in.

The next big organizing project i have is our CDs and DVDs - going to get rid of all those jewel cases and put them in big binders labeled A-Z, with the album cover settled in the back of each pocket so we know exactly what CD is missing, and can easily put it away when it resurfaces. I figure we'll have 3/4 of our shelf space restored to us by me doing this!

You are super organized! What wonderful ideas. I, too, cut things out of my magazines, but they just lay in a pile. LOL
