Here is a little something I found in an old cookbook and I liked it so much I printed one to put on my bathroom/laundry wall and I thought y'all might enjoy it too.

GRANDMA'S RECEET FOR WASHING CLOTHES

When life seems tedious and hard to bear, consider this "receet" given to a young bride by her Kentucky mountain grandmother. It is printed here exactly as originally written.

1. Bild fire in back yard to heet kittle of rain water.
2. Set tubs so smoke won't blow in eyes if wind is pert.
3. Shave one hole cake lie soap in biling water.
4. Sort things, make three piles, 1 pile white, 1 pile cullard, 1
pile work britches and rags.
5. Stur flour in cold water to smoothe then thin down with biling
water.
6. Rub dirty spots on board, scrub hard, then bile. Rub cullard but
don't bile, just rench and starch.
7. Take white things out of kittle with broom stick handle, then
rench, blew and starch.
8. Spread tee towels on grass.
9. Hang old rags on fence.
10. Pore rench water in flower bed.
11. Scrub porch with hot soapy water.
12. Turn tubs upside down.
13. Go put on cleen dress, smooth hair with side combs, brew cup of
tee, set and rest and rock a spell and count blessings.

Hope you enjoyed it!

Hmm. I used to say I wish I was born in the "old" days. I am not sure I could have handled that. I would love to live that way for a week and see how I did. Those sure were some strong women

BE HAPPY!!!

Yea, that's what I did. I also have a couple of vintage type pictures, one with old fashioned clothes hanging on the line, the other is a woman hanging laundry with her little girl hanging on her leg. I love images like that.

Thank you Teresa Sue :)

I think I will print this and frame it for my Laundry Room.
