I did a load of baby laundry last night, all these sweet, adorable whites and light colors and after removing them from the dryer, noted "rust spatters" ALL over them, the size of pin pricks on some, and other pieces totally "splattered"! I am Soooooo ticked!

I looked inside the dryer, and on one side of the drum, there is a "bare" spot in the metal, from where I guess jean buttons and things hit it. The darn thing is still under warranty, and is only 2 years old. Surely that should have broken down yet?

So, back to doing these little white things up and I guess I'll hang them on the drying rack instead. Ugh.

Glad to hear you rescued the baby clothes. I feel like appliances are built much more shoddily than years ago. I hope you get some satisfaction from Sears.

Well...here is what I did....I rewashed the little things, and sprayed the more worse stained ones with the Dreft stain remover (it really works!)...I let those sit for a few hours, then put them into the wash with the Cheer free and gentle, a scoop of Borax and then a bit more dreft stain remover put into the wash cycle. No more rust spots!

Then, I hung them all on my wooden drying rack--not a lot of room, but they're little things, so it will all work out. Whew.

Thanks for the hlep about the rust...I will pick some of that up. I guess, really, all our other clothes have the spots too, but I didn't notice because they're dark!

Sears will be out on Wednesday...can't come a minute too soon. And, yep, Heather, you're right. They don't make these things like they used to! Kenmore. Used to be the brand that everyone trusted!

OK, now what you want to do is get some Zud cleanser at the grocery, make a paste with water and put on the rust spots on your beautiful baby things. Let them sit, keep checking to see when spots are gone, and then wash, I guess by hand for now...Zud is amazing at getting rust out.

Hmmm...sounds like it is defective. Your warranty on the drum should be at least covered for the first year. I swear these new appliances are not built to last anymore. I hope you get it fixed for free.

No Kidding! I bought a used Maytag dryer that is already 20 years old and it's drum is in perfect condition!

I've called Sears for service (not until Wednesday) and I need to check on my warranty that I took out with purchase. I'm pretty frustrated--for a $1,000 dryer, that was supposed to be "heavy duty" you'd think that a jean button or some change wouldn't rock its world!

Have you called the company yet? I would demand a refund!
