I use Watkins degreaser when DH launders his Carhartts - which is NOT VERY OFTEN.

Cindy Citracal sounds like Citrasolv which is - you guessed it - also citrus based.
Sheila - I have used that to get automotive grease out of carpets - it works great and it's all natural, it should be available at an organic foods store near you

I throw a can of Pepsi in the wash with the oily diesely clothes. I just add it with my regular detergent. Works great. Don't use diet.

Sheila, my ex used to work off loading #6 oil for the power plant to burn for energy, he used to bring home Citrical which is citrus based and it didn't get all the stains out but it sure did get the smell out. Now I don't know if you can buy it commercially or not, but if you can't I would wash his stuff with a lot of lemon juice, orange juice, or some kind of citrus juice. Or you might want to soak the items in straight citrus juice for several hours or a day then run them through the washing machine.

I'm pretty positive this will help get rid of your smell.

The cascade is a brilliant idea, I was going to suggest Fels Naptha, I always rub that in when I get oil paint on my clothes, it usually6 clears things up.

My mother always used oil of wintergreen in the wash when my dad got gasoline on his clothes. Worked like a charm! I think you can get it at the pharmacy.

Try adding Pine Sol to the wash and then re-washing with just detergent.

All of my Dh clothes smell like this he is a mess and a Truck driver. Try the vinigar rinse but the best thing is just to put in the sun to dry with carharts this is not great because they stay so stiff but then I put them is the dryer with a dryer sheet and they are better. Watch what you wash after these clothes as the oils from the diesel will get on the next load too. Dh didn't tell me he had washed his overalls and The next wash was all my undies and wow was that a mess and expensive as I had to replace lots. I will usually try to do a load of rags or even just empty with bleach and detergent.
