If it's not a secret recipe, I would love to have your recipes for household things.:) I know about the shampoo and honey/vinegar hair rinses, and I use the baking soda/Borax laundry soap, but what other everyday things do you make yourself? I want to be good and stock in this sort of thing too for when we get to move into the new house, so if you wouldn't mind sharing I'd love to know. What's your favorite make-it-yourself item household item??

You can never have too many jugs of white vinegar in the house for every kind of cleaning you might need to do. Also use white vinegar in place of fabric softener in your washing machine. Your towels will be more absorbent (and less likely to break your skin out by layering oily chemicals on your face) and everything will be fluffy enough. Sure, not as fluffy as with the chemical stuff, but please consider the trade-off :-) |

I make an all purpose cleaner with vinegar, borax, and castile soap mixed with water in a spray bottle. I also add some orange EO, lavender EO, and tea tree EO. If I need to really disinfect I also add a few drops of oregano (works great on mold and really nasty germs). |

I have a question as to why you use the Sodium Bicarb for your goats? I have a beatuful goat named Moon who I bottle fed and raised since last April. When my daughter worked on a goat farm the owner did not want to spend the time bottle feeding the orphaned goats so my daughter brought them home. Our goat herd is up to 4--with 3 of them bottle babies. I just love my goats!!!

I use the green parm cheese container with the holes for baking soda. Also, I have found that the sodium bicarb bought at the feeds store for my goats (HUGE bag for $10) is even better for cleaning cause it is not as fine as the stuff in the yellow box. It has a grittier texture that is better for scrubbing, & is also cheaper. |

You can make your own window cleaner if you mix up vinegar and water in a spray bottle. I make my own "all purpose" with a cap ful of bleach, a squirt of dish soap and water. You can disolve borax and baking soda if you're patient if you need a milder all purpose spray. Stock up on baking soda! It's THE best for polishing a stainless steel sink! I mix borax&baking soda, dump a little pile on the counter and with an "old stinky wet sponge" and a damp sink, dab the sponge in the pile, and scrub away. It's amazing. I also use the same thing for cleaning the bathroom sink and shower. (hint: take an empty plastic jar like for mayo, and dril a few small holes in the top and you have the perfect dispenser for your powder cleaner so you can sprinkle it where you want.) |

Favorite Household Tip - Homemade Febreze
While I love the real thing, I've found that Febreze Fabric Freshener is expensive and a bottle doesn't last very long. So I found a recipe for making my own and it couldn't be more simple - just mix 2 cups water and 1 cup fabric softener. I spray it on everything
