We have VERY hard water and have accumulated some rust stains in the showers. Anyone got a "green" alternative to the heavy duty rust removers in the stores?

If you don't mind chemical stuff, try ZUD. It's a powder, near the scouring powders. I make a paste with it and let it sit awhile on the stain. It works great!

Try Bon ami. It should be near the comet and such. It is earth friendly,no perfume, chlorine, or dyes. When nothing else work I grab for it.

I saw that post about salt, I'll give that a try. I've seen the Barkeepers in the stores. That will be next after salt...and thanks Alee...vinegar! Wow! That vinegar sure gives a girl a workout!

Get Barkeeper's Friend. It's like comet. But this stuff is absolutely wonderful. You will never be without it. Sprinkle the stuff on the hard water stain, I have hard water, and make a paste with a little water. Let it set for about 15 minutes, depending on how bad the stain is, longer if the stain is really bad, like 30 minutes. Then scrub and you will see white white white. I love the stuff.

AngiKay just mentioned in another post that she used salt on her tub and she has hard water. It is worth a try.
