washing soda? I know Arm & Hammer makes it, but have had no luck finding it in the local stores. I want to use it make an all purpose cleaner from a recipe in the April Country Living. Has anyone used it in that capacity before? How did it work compared to store bought cleaners?

I use it in my homemade laundry soap recipe. I get mine at a local grocery store in my area.
Maybe you can get it online.

Here you go Cynthia-Natural cleaners will appear to "smear" glass if you don't remove the chemical residue leftover from your commercial cleaners first. Use this solution before making the transition to a natural glass cleaner. Mix 1/4 cup castile soap in a small bucket of warm water. Add 1 cup of vinegar at the end. Use solution to wash all glass surfaces to remove chemical build-up. I also use this to clean my stove top and back splash. It works great on the grease!
For Furniture Dusting, Cleaning & Polishing: Put 1/2 tsp. castile soap in warm water in a small pale. Add 1/4 cup vinegar after adding water. Wash and dry furniture thoroughly. Note some wood finishes aren't water proof!

The only place I can find it by me is in our local grocery store, Jewel, by the laundry soap. A hardware store may have it too. Good luck finding it.
I use it for laundry soap and some cleaning recipes. I make all my own cleaners and use Borax, baking and washing soda, vinegar and water in different portions. The results have been excellent. If you used commercial cleans on your windows and glass, then you'll need to make a home brew to strip the wax left behind from them before using your own stuff. Let me know if you want the recipe.

We get ours at the Winco foods store. It's about $2 for a large box, it's the only place I could find it here :)
