Does anyone have any suggestions for a furniture polish/cleaner? My wood furniture is so dry this time of year. I need a good moisturizing one.

Erin-
Most natural food store will carry beeswax, or you can try to find a local bee-keeper in your area. If you don't know where one is, try calling your local law enforcement office and asking who they call to remove problem hives. If you still can't find beeswax locally, I can give you the phone number of a place in Wyoming that has top-notch beeswax and honey. It's amazing.

Alee,
Your recipe sounds just what I'm looking for. Only I don't know where to look for the beeswax. I live in small town Nebraska. Any suggestions?

It depends on how scented you want it to be. Start with two drops and keep going if you like :D I usually use about 5-6 drops of lavender.

Alee - I'm going to try your mixture. My daughter has an antique bedroom set and the wood really needs something more emollient then the Method stuff that I use. I have all the ingredients - now which essential oil to use??

If it is a permeable varnish on the wood I use a homemade mixture of Beeswax, Vitamin E oil, Olive Oil, and Essential oil. I just mix up about 3 ounces of beeswax, 5 ounces of Vitamin E oil, and as much olive oil as is needed to make is soft and spreadable.

Method products are sold at Target. I've seen them at Whole Foods too. If your wood furniture is water proof, you can wash off chemical residue from commercial cleaners by putting a 1/2 tsp castile soap in warm water in a small pail, add 1/4 up vinegar after adding the water. Wash & dry furniture throughly. Then use 2 tbsp. olive oil, 2 tbsp. vinegar, 2 tbsp.lemon juice. Add 5 drops of lemon essential oil. Mix ingredients. Dab on a soft cloth & rub onto wood until it is clean. Smells good too!

I use the Method wood polish. It works really great and smells wonderful - like almonds. Plus it's all natural.
