We have tons of baling wire from Hoss's hay....Any ideas on what we can do with this other than throwing it away? Maybe crafts or in the garden?

Posted - Dec 29 2007 : 06:57:27 AM How about using the wire like grapevine to create a garland or wreaths? Purely decorative. I've seen the grapevine used as garland around a front door & then seasonal accents/decorations added.

Posted - Dec 29 2007 : 06:36:05 AM One of my friends made us a wreath using barbed wire...she wrapped it around like a wreath then added some dried flowery stuff. I LOVE it. I'll bet you could do the same with the baling wire. |

Posted - Dec 28 2007 : 10:25:03 PM You could create a wire stringer for peas, green beans, strawberries. I use baling wire for hanger on wooden plaques I have. I have use to make english garden fence. Have fun.

of course another idea is to craft a wreath shape from the baling wire and attach homespun/primitive looking hearts and old vintage photos to the wreath.
lots of ideas actually, maybe a few of the ones I found might spark the creativity.

Posted - Dec 28 2007 : 6:02:30 PM YAY!!! That's a heckuva lot more fun than twine (unless you were going to knit yourself an outdoor rug or something I guess!).

Posted - Dec 28 2007 : 5:59:14 PM it's the strong rusty looking wire, you can bend it and twist it... but yep wire.

Posted - Dec 28 2007 : 5:53:26 PM Oh, yeah - that would make a huge difference. All of our hay is done with that crazy orange stringy-twine here. I was thinking wire!

Posted - Dec 28 2007 : 5:47:23 PM Is it wire wire or bailing twine(the ropey stuff)?

Posted - Dec 28 2007 : 4:58:24 PM Let's see -- there just HAVE to be some good uses for that wire!!!
My mom wraps wire around little jars to make hangers and puts little plants in them - they are darling! You could also do that with candles in the jars and hang them inside sort of "chandelier-style" or outside - for a great outdoor summer dinner lighting idea.
I KNOW there are more!
