I bought a second hand aquarium for our bearded dragon that needs alot of tlc. Ive scraped all the excess silicone out of all the seams, now its time to get the glass shiny. I think it had been stored outside, upside down as there seems to be a lot of hard water scale on the outside. Ive tried aquarium cleaner with a little success. I also tried some vinegar, it did nothing. The toilet cleaner that removes hard water stains was way too fumey! Any ideas?

good old baking soda might work well too with brush.also table salt is good for cleaning aquariums.

Oh don't use anything toxic! You will probably kill your bearded dragon that way. I would soak a towel in white vinegar and apply it to the glass, wrap with plastic and let sit over night. If that doesn't take it off, then get a glass scrapper (basically a razor blade with a safety handle) and that will take the scale right off without scratching the glass.
