I dropped some melted butter on my new fancy cotton tee the second time I wore it and it made a big grease spot. I Spray and Washed it and soaked it in Borateem and then washed it as ususal and it didn't come out at all. Do you have any ideas of how to get that nasty spot out? I don't buy myself very many clothes and this is a big crisis for me!!
PS, the melted butter was on fresh homemade bread, so it was kind of worth it.

Well, ladies - the stain is GONE!!! Yippee!! Thanks so much - I did the Shout and soaked it in hot soapy water, then washed it in hot soapy water, then hung to dry. Now I have a whole arsenal of tricks to try when I get a stain - and I will get another one, thats for certain. I'm like Kathie - the "girls" catch everything.

When I get any kind of staining food on clothing, I drench the area with Dawn liquid dishwashing soap. I can't remember the last time I had a stain which didn't come out in the wash since I've found this trick.

Gee, that rings a bell, Kelly. In fact, I have something like that (it's like soft chalk, or a styptik pencil -- the stuff men used to use when they cut themselves shaving). You're supposed to rub it gently on oily stains to absorb them up out of the fabric before washing; same principle.

When my DH has a food grease/oil stain on his shirt he is ironing, he sprinkles a little baby powder on it & rubs it in. Usually afterwashing, it is gone. Sure is worth a try for a favorite shirt.

As wonderful as cotton is, it can be awfully hard to get food stains completely out, especially greasy ones. I've found the cheapie store-brand version of Oxy-Clean (can't STAND that GUY so I won't buy the brand name version) works best of all. Follow the directions. I'm afraid you might already have tried too many things, though. Remember white vinegar, too. Cuts grease. Might help.

I would make a paste of baking soda and liquid dish washing soap (Dawn). And wash in hot water. But don't dry in dryer until spot is out. Mabye some Biz would help?

Try sprinkling baking soda over the grease stain and letting it sit for a while.
