We are having a bit of an Ant infestation at my new apartment-

But today when I set out the Chocolate Soap to start to cure...I saw the little guys scurrying towards it!

I only had a few down on the ground, but I hope they carried a little bit back to the nest because I can't believe that Lye would be good for them!

Anyway...I thought it was funny how quickly they found the "food". LOL What a shock they must have gotten!

Well I think I am off to read or sleep or something...
Good Night Ladies!

Ciao

I just read in another place where a mixture of 1/2 ammonia and 1/2 water will wash off the ants' pheromone trails and they won't return. I've not tried this before, but the article said it really works! Good luck!

Liz, good luck with your infestation. I think mine is under control, of course it started raining last night so maybe that is going to help as well. I have been treating the floor and counters with Lysol Antibacterial Spray and cleaning up the odd ant or two that has been wandering around. Hopefully these are lone scouts looking for a free buffet and I am trying to dispose of them and clean up any "follow me" trail they've left for the rest of the colony. Atr the area where they were coming in, I poured comet into the crack around the door and left it there, and have been spraying with the antibacterial spray a couple of times daily. I am also taking up my pet bowls of food and washing them after each meal since even the empty bowl was attracting ants. Dog saliva must be tasty.

Alee - here's a link to another "anty" thread here that has some ideas you (and others!) might want to try... [http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/snitz/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5060]

Good luck on keeping these little critters outside where they belong!

Yikes, I have ants in my kitchen! It's been awfully dry and hot here in Virginia.

I did a search on this site and found these ideas...will need to figure out what chocolate soap is. I will try the boric acid and powedered sugar.

Does anyone else have some good ideas?

Boric acid and powdered sugar is your friend. Mix it together, put it in a little lid, and hide it. Gets rid of cockroaches too.
