Posted - Aug 24 2006 : 05:17:58 AM It really feels like fall now, mornings are crisp and cool, bees are very active preparing for winter, the State Fair is here, the kids are ready for the start of school and football season is here.
What do all you farmgirls love to do when Fall arrives?
Bar none mine is a big cozy sweatshirt, a cup of joe and FOOTBALL! My two oldest boys are both playing this year , one Varsity and the other 5th grade. Still there aren't enough games if you ask me.

Posted - Aug 24 2006 : 6:06:47 PM I am sorry summer is leaving but I love the fall! Here in the NE my favorite activity is apple picking. The leaves are turning red and yellow and the smell is heavenly and clean and crisp and then you go apple picking. Eating an apple straight from the tree is amazing. It's kind of like the first tomato. |

Posted - Aug 24 2006 : 2:34:47 PM Well, I agree with Catherine that once autumn comes, out comes the crockpot! I love making chili, braised beef ribs and beef and barley soup.
I like pulling out throws and putting them all over the sofas so that I can wrap up at a moment's notice.
I always buy a new pair of slippers in the fall, because I wear them around the house all the time. I also like to buy one or 2 new warm sweaters.
I take down the summery "welcome" sign from my front door and hang up a pretty autumn arrangement I got at Wal Mart a few years ago. I also put out my mini scarecrow and hay bales.
I love to go strolling downtown into the local coffee shop (esquire's) for some tasty, tasty cider.
And lastly, I like to light some fall-smelling candles (I just bought a new one, Toasted Oak - yum!) because they make the house smell so nice!

Posted - Aug 24 2006 : 09:07:45 AM Oh Beth, that sounds like so much fun. I can't wait for sweatshirts!
I also love the State Fair, but then there's biking with gloves on, pumpkin hunting, raking leaves, hiking...anything outside! I love to be outside as much as possible in the fall because we're so cooped up here in Minnesota in the winter. But I also love coming inside after a fun outdoor fall day...especially if I've started a soup in the crockpot first so the house is warm and filled with the smell of a yummy fall dinner!
Can't wait...
Catherine
