My best friend and MJF FarmChick "Big Shanty Farmchick" came down the day after Thanksgiving and together we finished up her big Pink Slipper Project for a battered women's shelter. If you are not familiar with this project, you can visit pinkslipperproject.com
for all of the patterns and information. Sandy had already crocheted the booties in all sorts of pink and then on her way down from Atlanta, stopped in the Bells Outlet store in south Ga. and picked up every pink PJ in all sizes for 70% off. Then when she got here, we set up shop in my dining room and got to work on the rag slippers from both flannel and fleece fabrics. Here is our photo journey of the afternoon and evening.

Then she had collected toiletries and I added a few and we placed them in holiday bags for each person to have when they came to the shelter along with PJS and slippers.

After we finished all of that, we went out to Joanne Fabrics in search for material for us to have some slippers and here we are enjoying the fruits of our labors!!

No Black Friday shopping for these two farmgirls. We had a blast and then an even better time delivering them on Saturday!! What a great way to start the Holiday Season with warm toes!!

Sorry, but I just found this...what an awesome idea and project!!! Having been in a shelter many years ago there was a room full of donated, used items that I greatly appreciated when I moved out...but if I had received something like what you ladies did I would probably still be crying....you gals are awesome!!! Now off to my sewing machine to see what I can come up with!!!!

Love,

Thank you for doing this project. Way back in the days of my first marriage, there were no shelters for me to go to when I needed one. Now we have one nearby and I often donate items too. One year I donated dishcloths, so when the women moved out of the shelter, they could have something nice to start their new home with.

I love the fact that you treated yourself to your own slippers. How nice.

What a fun, wonderful thing to do! I'm sure the recipient's will love them. I used to work with homeless, battered women. This is off the subject..but, do you know ..the majority of them had never received a flower in their whole lives.
