Hello Farmgirls!

I have a gift cert to go to the local pottery place. I'm planning on going in the next few weeks and I would like to paint a few mugs. My plan is to pencil on a different [shortish] Bible verse on each mug and then paint it on... I would really like to have God's inspiration "in my hands" even when I'm not holding my Bible. It isn't my first time doing intricate work on pottery, but I do want to keep it short-ish so that it fits nicely.

So I'm asking for your help - what are your favorite Bible verses? When I'm there I'll take pics of my "creations" to post on my blog since I haven't the time to figure out how to post pics here just yet.

Thank you very much for your input!

Thanks so much Lea! I love using the mugs. I love reading the verses to my boys. It's such a blessing to have His word at my fingertips!

They turned out great! I really liked the idea of 2 verses on each cup so your table mate could read one. What discussions could evolve from that as you each shared your verse with one another. Good job!

Proverb 3:5,6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

One of my life verses

I Thessalonians 5:16,17
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Hi Farmgirls!

It took a while for me to locate this thread, but I wanted to bump it up to thank those who helped with sharing Bible verses.

I wanted to let you know that I finally picked up my mugs and they turned out better than I anticipated! I do wish my handwriting was a bit neater, but it's kind of difficult with the stroke of the brush! You can see photos of the finished work on my blog (link below) the August 30 entry.

Thank you again & have a blessed day!

I know you've already done this, but one of my favorites:

"It's a fearful thing to fall into the hands of a living God." Hebrews 10:31 <3 I hope you post pics next week!

I painted on Saturday night. I didn't realize they had marking pens there (I haven't painted pottery in ages), so I used a pencil from my bag. I have distinct recollection that we used pencil when I was a kid when we marked pottery for painting. My mother has a wheel and kiln and it was one of the activities we did for several years during my childhood. We used to paint intricate designs and I know they weren't free hand and I remember my mother showing us how the graphite burned off after the first firing.
So, after the fact, when the graphite was smudged from my finger prints, they said they couldn't guarantee that the graphite would burn off. I think it will. I talked to my mom & she said it would. So, I'll find out on the 18th or 19th when I pick up the mugs. I painted 2 mugs with glazes inside and 2 scripture verses each (one on each side). I think they turned out okay. It's kinda hard to get fine lines with glaze - even on super fine brushes. I tested tons before I started & still had fairly thick writing. It's legible, to me, so we'll see. I didn't take pics because the smudging was pretty bad. I'll take pics next week after pick up - regardless of if the graphite burns off or not.
Thanks for asking!

Your words are what sustain me;they are food to my hungry soul. They bring joy to my sorrowing heart and delight me.
Jeremiah 15:16
Live peaceable with each other... We urge you to encourage those who are timid. Take tender care of those who are weak. Be patient with everyone. See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to everyone else. 1 Thessalonians 5:13-15.
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1

I have a few:

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13

"All things are possible with God." Matthew 19:26

"For nothing is impossible with God." Luke 1:37

Love your idea! I bet your mugs will be amazing! :)
