I chose Jens Farm, Jenny is my name and I love farms!!! We are starting a farm (we have 15 chickens and 1400 square feet of garden space)in the middle of the Superior National Forest in northern MN and I have a collection of small scale tractors which I love dearly.

I chose Lovingewe because of my great passion for sheep.
Ever since I was about 12 years old I wanted to own sheep.
It was when i was 38 that I bought my first two ewe's and now have close to 150 of them! They are my dolls, only more mischievous then dolls.

This is such a cool topic Maggie! I love it. Its so great to hear why everyone picked their names..its a nice form of self expression...

I am barefootmama because I rarely have shoes on lol I am actually known for it in my family and my hubbys..and my kids are the same way lol..We have five acres and we are slowly day by day become self sufficient on our own property, which we lovingly call "Barefoot Farm"..now we do wear shoes when we are working on the property for safety reasons but any other time the kids and I are "naked footed" as my son says lol...and mama because I'm a mommy an my kids call me mama plus, my best friend and I call each other hot mama's (it makes us mamas feel sexy again lol)

Blessed are those who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused:)

My choice was rather boring... wasn't sure of how to go about things when I set up.
So just my name and part of my address.
My IM handle is Thislegal27 - which is a much better description of me and my favorite flowers/number.
My DH had to choose a flower to describe me at a couples retreat many years ago. In a room full of roses, carnations and daisies - I was the only thistle.
He explained that they are wild, beautiful, and need to be handled with care.
I said - "Nice save." And now I have a Thistle tattoo to honor that day and my ancestry.
Anyhoo - if I'd have known what I was doing - I'd be Thistlegal.
oh, well.

Blessings, staci FG# 973

Sourceress Posted - Apr 11 2010 : 11:32:55 PM
I have been the Sourceress online for about 25 years now. I started out on local dial-up BBSes when I was in high school (back before the Internet existed), then got an account on the school mainframe when I got to college, which included access to the Bitnet, the Usenet, and the Internet (back before the World Wide Web). And by the time I got out of college and moved to Maryland to marry my high school sweetheart (who turned out to be an abusive jerk who I later divorced, but it got me to MD, where I met the wonderful man I've been married to for the last 12 years, so it worked out), the World Wide Web was just starting to take off. So now whenever I have to make a username, I try to get "Sourceress" since, well, that's who I am, at least when I'm online.

Anyway, I've been the Sourceress for over half my life. In some ways, it is just as much a "real" name as my legal name. I created it, all those years ago, to be a play on words: in programming, "source code" is the code as it is written by the programmer, before it is translated into something the computer can understand, so that is partly a reference to my love of computers and technology. I am pagan, so there's also a reference to my witchy, magickal side. To me it also always had connotations of being a source of data - I've always been fascinated with the idea of collecting information - we have zillions of books and a house decorated in floor-to-ceiling bookcases.

Anyway, that's what it means. And that's why I always sign things

I get teased by people. They say I am always smiling. Remember a few years back a saying went around "Smile. It makes folks wonder what you've been up to"

Love these stories. I chose patchwork because I enjoy patchwork quilting and the peace came from the tranquility I get from working on a quilt. Nothing astounding, but it works for me.

I'm like Maggie it is good to know how we came about with our call names. Mine is because when I got divorced after 20 years I wanted somthing special but every thing I wanted was taken. For I use it on my car tags as well. Then I started thinking in other directions. My name is Lillian but have always gone by Lilly. Little Lilly until my Mom passed. Then I do alot of sewing for me as well as for money. Well the bottom line is SoLilly. For sewing and if you have met me or knew me you would say solilly. There are very few people like me.

learning the life I always wanted.

traildancer Posted - Mar 04 2010 : 11:51:07 AM
When my daughter was young (she turns 21 today!) she was fascinated by Indian lore and went so far as to build a teepee and make up Indian words for various items. My horse is Sailor, a Missouri Fox Trotter, and her name for him was Traildancer because he "dances" (gaits) down the trails. It reminds me of her youth and my horse.

chick-chick Posted - Mar 03 2010 : 7:36:14 PM
I'm chick-chick because last year we had two leghorn chickens and I would let them wander around the yard, when I'd go outside I'd call "here chick chick' and they would come running!Unfortunely raccoons got into the coop and killed them, so this is my tribute to them.

knittinchick Posted - Mar 03 2010 : 2:58:47 PM
I wanted to choose something that reflected the farmgirl spirit, but I also wanted a little bit of my city sassiness in the name, so I chose knittinchick. I think it's a nice balance between city and country.
God's Blessings,
Megan

At heart, I am both a sassy city girl and a down-home country gal.

Hello Lisa! I'm a fellow Buckeye, and am familiar with the Ohio Valley area, as I used to work for the publisher of the Ohio Valley telephone directory. I think your username is neat, I've always liked the "chick" nickname, especially when referring to us farmgals! ;-)

My user name is my business name, derived from my kids' great grandmother Ruby and my first name, which is a family name. (and I still think of it as an old lady name! lol)

Where I live is referred to as the Ohio Valley. I was also hoping to meet some other gals around where I live. After several years in the city my family and I have returned to the farm where I was raised. Not sure if I picked chick because I enjoy our chickens or if its because I often refer to women as "chicks". I know some would find that offensive but for me it was just a good ole country word for farm gals.

When my niece and nephew were little they could never get "Toby" right. It always came out "Aunt Boby". Even though they are 23 and 25 now, sometimes they still will say it. I use it for all my user names.
