I am interested in throwing our own trade/barter picnic. The idea is to get everyone together for a yummy picnic as well as trade some of our goods.

No money can change hands--- everything is for trade of hand/home made goods and services.
(Kind of like our own farmers market, but with no money!)

Anyone ever try anything like this? What worked and what didnt?

I didnt end up doing this....yet...
Husband got a promotion, so we are moving again. But as soon as I get settled and join up (or start) a chapter I would love to try it.
Would love to hear anyones ideas or if anyone was able to try it.

I think this is a WONDERFUL idea. Going to mention it to the farmer's market ladies on Monday.
I have a booth with N. E. Iowa pur maple syrup. Love to trade anytime.

Thanks for a great idea.
Please read the Sisterhood Apron Gathering I am thinking about for 2010.

What a great idea this sounds like! I'm surprised more people and communities haven't thought of this.

What a great idea and especially in the times we are in. Let us know more about your picnic so we can do one in our communities too.

I had been cooking up an idea just like this a month ago...!! But people could sell too, and we would invite the community- just like a farmer's market but with farmgirls featured and given preference.
