What a neat story Ronna about Waylon! :) I miss hearing and seeing the ole classic artists like Waylon, Conway, Johnny, etc. There is nothing like them.

Yes, I can see a great big room off the kitchen. Just don't extend it too far. Don't go out to the 'secret garden', okay???

PS-Please post a pic of Mr. Parrot. :D He's really a cool bird! Much cooler than the Maltese Falcon, even!

Wilma - How does Sterl like the 125.00 parrott? David is still talking about it! I told you he would have shot me graveyard dead if I would have bought it! LOL!!! You'd be going to my funeral this week for sure!!!!

And I'm not sure what became of the bat! By the time David got home that night, I was sound asleep! And I was so busy 'doing my thing' during my 2 week break, I lost all ability to follow up on anything but having fun!!!! :D

Hi girl, I dont know how he did with the bat but was amazed at my 125.00 parrot, I love this bird, Looking forward to seeing you, We are just waiting, its due the 10th. It looks like he is going to be a very big baby, her swelling has been so bad, when she stands up half of her feet turns white, She did get the teaching job at UK until June, will only have to go in a couple of days a week, so right now looks like they might be moving back here the last of Feb.She can drive to Lexington a couple of days a week cheaper than living up there, So that means I will get to keep my little man,I already love him to pcs and he isnt here yet. Mom says the moon changes the 10th so we will see how the moon thing goes Ha

Sorry I missed it, girls! Sounds like a wonderful time...maybe next time. Mostly, I'm sorry I missed the greens at the Smokehouse restaurant!!!! Me and this "child" can sure eat, right about now

My poor mom--they told her that they couldn't get to her car until Today, so we took it to a local garage on Friday, where they did a diagnostic test and told me that it would cost $800!!!!! So, I called the dealership back, and it turns out the receptionist for the parts/service department was an old middle school chum, and she made sure Mom got in with "Mario" the head of the service department on Saturday, early am. So, I paid the nice people at the local gararge, and then drove the car to the Ford dealer to sit until Saturday am. Then, on Saturday, they gave her a loaner car (a HUGE brand new Ford Explorer), and she forgot the keys in her friends car, so I had to pick her up and take her over two counties to get those....so my weekend was pretty much shot, but like I said, it's my momma. Yesterday, we drove in the giant Explorer to Grove City, Ohio, or "up home" to visit my Aunt, my grandmother's middle sister, and to do some thrifting at the Ohio Valley Thrift for the baby. I found the COOLEST shoes for .99!!! They are dark burgandy patent leather boots, made in Sweden, never worn. Adorable!!! Also found a cowboy Dress that I know Miss Wilma will love...she should be in it about September, October, just in time for an Autumn romp at the farm!

Everything is going well here, otherwise...just waiting on this baby! Miss Wilma, any news about your grandbaby yet? How much longer?

Janice, how did David fare with the bat?

Carol Sue Posted - Jan 04 2009 : 12:51:37 PM
Hey are we dating ourselves when we talk about 8 tracks and cassettes Ronna, we thought it was so cool when we got 8 tracks.

Wow girl, you have had an amazing life, when you gonna write your memoirs....

Jessica, I was going with Waylon's bass player at the time and had taken Lori with me to see them play at Knott's Berry Farm in SoCal. One of the guys in the band gave Mooney a bottle of gin and wow did he cut some licks on the steel guitar that show...Waylon stopped mid song and gave him the stage. 8x10 glossies of me with Waylon, Willie, Roy Rogers, etc are priceless now...along with the memories.
Suppose I should wait until the economy is better before putting my albums on eBay. Only a few are probably worth more than a couple bucks.
Think my son has taken the Cash and Buck Owens, which is fine with me. Only ones to keep are those that have not been reissued on CD. All my old 8 tracks are long gone and most of the cassettes too I think.

Gosh it is great reading about your adventures again, and we do have a turntable and use it periodically. Hubby loves jazz, he would be in gaga land.....lol. They love what they love Miss Wilma. And we love them now don't we.

Jessica, the nose bleed comment had me laughing so hard....

Sounds like you girls had fun and isn't that what is was all about, a good time together, yep, that is for sure.

Janice, let's see, the snow is to my thigh, we get more tomorrow night another 8 inches. Our power hasn't gone off thank goodness, but our water has froze up and we have been on pipe repair, including moving the crazy bath tube to get to the pipe. Hopefully we will have it all back together tomorrow or Monday. Our pipes were wrapped and heat tapped, but sprung a leak and oh what a mess we have had. Ahhhh the joys of winter, along with shoveling roofs because too much snow. Who would have ever thought we would have gotten 69 inches of snow in less than 3 weeks, no joke. When was I suppose to save money and come again, LOL......a vacation from this crazy snow is beginning to sound good.....lol I vote for an early spring!!!!!

Forgot to add....Ronna that is a great story about your daughter! One of the guys I use to work with got me an personalized autographed photo from Shooter, Waylon's son a few years back. I've gotten a few records so far in the collection.

Jeanne...that was a real treat seeing George getting the award. :) However, I wish Josh Turner sang One Woman Man. I love Randy, but Josh can really turn it up! Speaking of George, RFDTV shows those Music City News award shows and tonight it had George and Conway. Lord knows I miss seeing Conway in concert! My parents use to drag us to shows all the time and we use to go down to Twitty City. During our honeymoon, we went back to Twitty City and it was just so surreal getting to go inside the house.

Well girls I dragged dear ole hubby to Louisville to the big flea market extravaganza. We didn't get there until about 3PM and it was nice without a huge crowd. They were open until 7PM tonight. It is a fairly large flea market I must admit. I'm so glad that they had the antiques in their own section. I was getting ready to holler at Wilma on the phone to ask her where they were. There was barely a soul walking around in the antiques and many of the booths had 1/2 off, etc. One guy was putting up signs that everything was $1. Needless to say, nothing was worth a dollar in his stuff.

We were on the search for records and lord knows we found quite a few of them! But I wasn't willing to pay $5 on Johnny Cash records. I even tried to get them to come down and they wouldn't. (I should have had Wilma with me! haha) I said "well I guess ya'll are keeping them." They had other records but they were like $3 each. The very next booth over they had some of the very same ones for $1 !! I did luck out though as we were getting ready to leave. A young man had crates of records marked 25 cents each. WOOHOO. I lucked out and found a Dolly Parton record that I got for 25 cents. Hubby went "wow, we drove 45 minutes for a 25 cent record." Then he looked on Ebay and is demanding I sell it because it is selling for quite a bit more than that! haha

I also got a few advertising ads and the funniest one was an ole farmer for Osh Kosh overalls. I'll try to take a photo or scan the ads for ya'll. The guy wanted $3 each for them, but I got him to come down and I got 4 for $6. The others were John Deere ones. I'm going to mat them, frame them, and place them in my kitchen.

Then the funniest moment of the day....I went "holy cow it is a Buddy Lee Doll." See I've always wanted a buddy lee doll because they are too darn cute. However, they are always about $100+ and way out of my price range. I go over, pick it up as there isn't a hang tag on it. I thought "wow $25!!" in my mind. The lady was rude and went "do you plan on buying that?" Ok, not my fault she put the price tag on the bottom of the shoe! I looked again and realized it wasn't $25 it was $225. Umm...NO way! I went "well no but do you have any hankies for sale? I think my nose is starting to bleed with your high prices." The look on her face was priceless. Teehee. I wouldn't have said it if she wasn't so rude to me.

The flea market part was alright. We ventured through a few aisles, but you could only handle so many dollar store finds and the same purses and oh doggie stuff for so long. It started to rain on our way home.

So needless to say, it was well worth the drive for my 25 cent Dolly record. :o)

Gosh, Miss Wilma, there is not a treasure you do not have! 700 old albums? YOu know what hubby and I did? When our daughter married and moved away, we went on a cleaning spree. We had no turntable anymore, so we put two moving boxes of albums at the street. Three, for decades of records....they weren't there 20 minutes. I was ready to be free of them, but think of them sometimes when I read the posts above! We had old Carter records, old Beach Boys, Beatles, Frank Sinatra, oh well! I love old country, too.

Did you all see Geroge Jones get a big award the other night on the Kennedy Center Awards? It was great.

Miss Wilma, your record album stash sounds a lot like mine. Larry thought they were all gone and put my turntable in the trash...grrrrr. I used to spend some late nights at the radio station in Burbank CA and had free rein to take most any albums I wanted. Got all the Christmas cards off the wall one year too, very cool.
I'd love to do a wall with the old album covers and photos of me with country musicians I was able to meet...just no wall space I can think of for that right now. My daughter still has the photo Waylon signed to her when she was about 8 or 9 and treasures it.
What fun it would be to go junking with all you sweet ladies and gents. I'm still planning Farm Fair next July and who knows after that.

It was a very good one with a separate section for antiques, Jess. We had a wonderful time with Wilma and Sterl. Sterl and David went into the 'new' section and Wilma and I scoured the old stuff! ;) Ask Wilma about her parrot! :D Then we ate at Smoketown Barbecue(the place where the greens for our gathering came from)...yum! There's another Flea Market in January, I just don't know if there will be good antiques at the next one.

Too bad I had to work yesterday or I would have met up with you chickadees. I'm going to try to convince dear ole hubby to possibly go this afternoon. It looks like it stays open until 7PM tonight. Wilma said that it was a good one.

My new hunting of antiques now includes old Johnny Cash & Waylon Jennings records that are at least in somewhat good condition. My plans are to put them in those picture frames for LPs and have them lined up on one of my walls in our home office. I use to have Alison Krauss's Now that I Found You on LP but sold it on ebay. I wish I still had it, but it did bring some good money at the time.

Miss Violet....I hope things are going well with you guys! Feb will be here before you know it. There are lots of babies being born amongst our family and friends. My cousin's wife (Wilma's daughter in law) and then another cousin on my mom's side of the family, along with 2 of our friends and a girl I work with are all expecting.

Hope you guys have a great weekend!!
