I'm so excited I can hardly contain myself. We had Octoberfest in my city this weekend. Lots of craft booths, music, and food to enjoy. I told my hubby we have to go to Kindred Spirits, a local organic store in town, as I wanted to tell the owner about Mary Janes.
Imagine my surprise when she reached in her bag and pulled out her sample issue for the magazine subscription. She was as excited as I was. She's planning on joining the forum and is excited to think of us starting a local chapter in our town. The dear lady has even offered the use her store for our meetings! How cool is that???
I'm hoping to round up a whole bunch more sisters for the forum.
Stop by and see Connie's organic store website at: http://kindredspiritsorganics.com/

As much as I'd have liked to get the chapter off the ground it failed. The store owner had to close her shop when so many places were going under. She also lost her mother and had depression smack her down. Her shop had closed and I wasn't even aware and now no way to contact her. Two other women who had expressed interest in joining backed out. However; I've recently gotten to know a couple of my neighbors who enjoy crafting and seemed interested when I suggested an afternoon at my house with our hooks or needles. So I am going to plan something, get them over here and make sure they get to see MJF mags and book I have. See if I can peak some interest. Neither have computers but there's nothing wrong with pictures of projects completed and maybe they could use my puter to peruse the sight. Anyway....good things come to she who waits :)

Cheryl,
How awesome, the fact that you did it and are moving forward is key! Congrats, that sounds like success to me!

Mavens are "information specialists", or "people we rely upon to connect us with new information."[6] They accumulate knowledge, especially about the marketplace, and know how to share it with others

Cheryl, your numbers may be small, but it sounds like you had a wonderful time, and got to know a new friend. Best of luck

First mtg not a huge success but still hopeful. Only myself and the store owner present with DH taking a couple pics for us. I'll try to post at least one pic later when I figure out how to do that here....lol We were able to do some brainstorming and she is very knowledgeable about marketing and was a great source of information/inspiration for me. We've vowed to keep on meeting at least once a month and talked about other places to post invitations to the community to garner new members for our chapter. I baked chocolate chip cookies and gave her a jar of home made cappuccino mix as a thank you gift for allowing the use of her store for meetings.
