,sherri, i wish you could come too, i think they would love your darling hats, jackets and quilts.
frannie, i'm the cutie with the black hat on.....not.
all of these pics are from my friend reid, these are her jackets, hats, smocks etc.
we share a booth their, really it is reid's booth and she generously asked me to join in with her. one of those kinda gals who is supportive of other crafters. we have been friends since my 32 year old was 6 months old. we have only had one disagreement over the identification of a wild flower, really we kinda did a whole lucy/ethel schtick on the side of the road one time....oh my that was 21 years ago.
anyway, roundtop....frannie, it is about 75-85 miles from houston, and the same from austin. it is very hard to get a place to stay, but if i were going just for the day, i would stay in austin and drive out for the day. or houston.
it occurs twice a year. oct./march. something like that.
i will try to take lots of pics this time, i have anew camera thanks to dh.
i hope i sell out this year, the good news is you can make good money there, the bad news is everyone brings wonderful things to sell and it is sooooooo hard not to buy away all your earnings.

it is a huge antique, folkart, craft fair, out in the country halfway between austin and houston. it has been going on 30+ years and has coverage in several magazines, country living, mary e., the shabby chic woman from england comes. it goes on for a week in the prettiest country side. all of the towns out there are old german communities and very quiant. roundtop/warrenton are the center, but now every little town in the area has their own thing, and the farmers rent out their fields and huge circus tents are brought in and filled with vendors. people come from all over the world .
you can google roundtop/warrenton to get to their site. and i have some old magazines with stories, but who the heck knows where they are. if i run across them i will try to post some pics.
