I'm canning beans this morning after a long time of not doing so. As I was going through the motions of canning, I thought I have lost my rhythm, my way of going through the steps of canning. It took a couple of jars of me being out of step till I found my rhythm of canning and I finished filling the jars with ease.

We all have our own way of moving through the steps of canning. We all have our own rhythm of canning.

Sara, I am glad you got back into the canning rhythm. Since my canning experience is limited, I don't have a rhythm yet. Hopefully I can get one this year.

Michelle, when your garden starts making I know there's not enough hours in the day for you to get done what you want to do.

Sara glad you got your canning mojo back. lol I have done rhubarb juice lately, and that is about all. Garden is in, so the canning days are coming up fast.

I think larder is an old word coming from being the place where lard was kept. Lard used to be used for everything we use shortening and butter for now.
My canning rhythm is almost gone. I used to can a lot for a family of five but it slowly tapered off. I do beans in the instant pot now too and put them in the freezer. The freezer now gets a lot of what I used to can. I do miss making pickles.

Lisa, as you have said before we are so much alike, I have picked up the odd British word from watching British mysteries and comedies on PBS.

I actually think it is a British expression; I heard it used somewhere along the line, (probably on one of the Victory Garden specials) and just liked the sound. LOL

Lisa, I hope you get around to canning beans soon so your pantry will be filled with a variety of delicious beans.

Larder must be a local expression. Here in Texas, it's pantry or fruit cellar though I doubt there are many fruit cellars left.

Sara, my canning rhythm has been a bit syncopated lately, and I've been missing the beat... In other words, I haven't canned anything in a while. I need to do dried beans; I've been out for a while. The last few times I've needed them I've just done in the instant pot, which is somewhat quick, but not as easy as grabbing a jar from the larder.
