What is your favorite strawberry dessert made with fresh strawberries? I have a bunch left over and would like to make the kids something tasty.

Judith, that was the first thing that came to my mind!

Heather, that sounds delicious! I really want to try that now! I can only imagine how it tastes.

Last night I made a strawberry crisp because I already had everything on hand. It turned out good. A little sweet, but still good.

Oh my goodness Heather, that sounds so good! I am not a big sweets person, and this looks perfect! (minus a bit of the powdered sugar...LOL)

Strawberry Cheesecake Trifle

2 pkg cream cheese (8oz each)
2 cups powdered sugar
1 cup (8oz) sour cream
1 1/2 tsp vanilla, divided
1/4 tsp almond extract
1 cup whipping cream
4 TBS sugar, divided
1 angel food cake torn into bite size pieces
2 qt fresh strawberries thinly sliced

In a large bowl beat cream cheese and powdered sugar until fluffy, add sour cream, 1/2 tsp vanilla and almond extract. Set aside. In a small bowl, whip the cream, 1 tsp vanilla, and 1 TBS sugar. Fold into the cream cheese mixture. Gently stir in cake pieces, set aside. Combine strawberries and 3 TBS sugar. Layer into a large glass bowl, starting with 1/4 of the strawberries, then adding 1/3 of the cake mixture, continue layering; finish with strawberries. Cover with plastic wrap and chill well.

Note - I've used thawed cool whip sometimes instead of whipping the cream with sugar and vanilla.

It's a little bit of work, but SOOO worth it!!!

My favorite is just plain old strawberry shortcake -- sponge or angel food cake, strawberries, and whipped cream.
