Posted - Dec 27 2023 : 06:36:01 AM On American Test Kitchen on PBS, they use a lot of peeled garlic in a bag and keep it in the freezer. Since I gave up on growing garlic after a couple of disastrous years trying and buying garlic only to find half of the cloves were bad, I decided to try the peeled garlic. Glad I did. I too keep the peeled garlic in the freezer and it's ready when I want it. I can use it whole, sliced, smashed, or grated. I made chicken broth yesterday to can today and used six cloves of garlic in it. No fuss I just opened the bag and took out the garlic cloves all nice and peeled and plopped them in the pot.

Posted - Jan 25 2024 : 06:21:53 AM Michelle, it is so handy to have peeled garlic in the freezer. I've given up on growing garlic so store bought peeled garlic is the next best thing.

Posted - Jan 06 2024 : 4:16:45 PM Good to know Sara. I too find the garlic at the supermarket to be so so. I find myself throwing half the garlic out. Will try the peel freezer method. Thanks.

Posted - Dec 29 2023 : 5:38:11 PM I've also put mine in a canning jar in the freezer and it works well. I was afraid the smell would escape a bag and ruin things in the freezer that don't go well with garlic LOL!

Posted - Dec 28 2023 : 05:53:23 AM Denise, I have home delivery so I don't know where it is at Aldi. Just guessing I would say the produce section since it isn't frozen.
Michelle it is so handy for me to just take out the bag and use what I need.

Posted - Dec 28 2023 : 04:33:25 AM Sara, you buy it already peeled? I have only seen it unpeeled in mesh bags. Is it kept with the produce or where do you find it in your Aldi?

Posted - Dec 27 2023 : 10:52:37 AM Great idea Sara! Thank you for sharing it with us. I use garlic quite a bit each week and have noticed a lot of the cloves were not edible. I will keep the best and freeze them to make life easier when I'm making dinner.
